Numbers 20:11
Moses struck the rock with his staff, badly needed water gushed out, I suppose Moses accepted all the thanks from those ingrates by saying, “Ah, ‘tweren’t nuthin’... “ and didn’t give props to G_d.
So G_d benches him.
Moses was definitely human, something of a showboat. But “barbaric”? Gee, I dunno.
But if we’re talking about real psychos, Abraham—the ROP’s heavy hitter—was a real piece of work. He was going to gut his son, see? Like you’d clean a perch.
You’re incorrect. Moses wasn’t “showboat”ing, as you put it. God told Moses to speak to the rock in order for it to yield the waters. Moses spoke to the ppl instead, thus rebelling against God.
Abraham wasn’t a psycho at all. The text reveals Abraham’s faith. Shortly before leaving his servants behind in order to take Isaac up to the place of sacrifice, Abraham told his servants that both he AND Isaac will be back. Abraham believe in God’s promise, and trusted that regardless what happened, Isaac would return with him. That passage you cite has nothing to do with Abraham as a “psycho”. It has everything to do with God’s faithfulness, and Abrahams trust in the Lord.
God was angry with Moses, He told Moses to speak to the rock ad therefore they would know God gave them the water...Moses hit the rock, therefore he could take credit for the water. Thats why he was not allowed to enter the promise land...
Not Abraham. Abram. It was a test. Psycho? Nope. Not at all.
