The Undiscovered Conservative Demographic
Original Content | 10/25/2014 | Laz A. Mataz

Whenever one looks at the demographics of the population of America, and how it is changing, it always looks very daunting for conservatives.

I agree. But I'd like to suggest a strategic solution that is very viable.

The Hispanic demographic is ripe for a conservative takeover.

The Hispanic population is a largely-Christian and very religious demographic. They are hard-working, very family-oriented, and tend to be moral. There are, of course, exceptions that disprove this rule, but I am speaking of the big-picture Hispanic population. They tend to have fled from countries that embrace socialism and police-state tactics on the part of the government. In Atlanta, Georgia, I run into a lot of Hispanics, and they are mostly as I describe. They seem to be 'natural conservatives', and if we explain it to them, we may bring them to our side.

These factors lend themselves very well to how we conservatives think. At the moment, the Democrats seem to be winning them over. If we get motivated and directly address them, one-on-one or especially in large groups, we may just capture this group for our own.

It will take a great deal of motivation and a very large effort, but I would like us to consider this as a strategic plan of action. It would require the development of a curriculum that explains America (as it once was) and how we became great. The curriculum would need to explore their country's socialism, and why they lived in the squalor from which they fled. It would need to educate them on the founding of our country, and explain who the founders were -- and how they relate to the current Hispanic situation.

Then, when a curriculum is developed, we would need to organize meetings, perhaps funded by deep-pocket conservative icons, replete with a reasonable give-away to lure them there. We'd need fluent Spanish speakers to explain the curriculum to them.

Obama will issue an Executive Order Amnesty later in 2014, illegally, of course. Imagine, however, if it turned out to be the Liberal, Communist and Democrat Party's undoing.

This is a sound strategic move. We need to start the process.

” Even back home where they are supposedly religious Christians (largely Catholics, of course), they are both steeped in liberation theology and among the highest-crime populations on the planet. Once here, they and their offspring shoot to the head of the pack not only for outright crime, but for dropping out of school and having children out of wedlock. While they are here illegally they typically commit felony after felony in various forms of identify fraud, and their small business orientation is overwhelmingly of individuals working as independent contractors, because that is an easier way for them to get around out employment, immigration, and tax laws.”

Correct, and if they vote at all, it will be Democrat by a large margin. This will fail miserably.

If America demands voter fraud be eleminated, then the producers can keep the grubby hands of those assorted, sordid, GibsMeDats out of the pockets of the producers.

As an educator, trust me when I say the Pooblik Skrewl Collective is vulnerable due to unsustainable tax burden and the Internet breaking the data monopoly.

If not, King George was dealt with and in such manner, so can the wannabe Kings of today.

Sorry Laz, but you are wrong on this. The Hispanics are just like the Libs in that they move someplace, and try to turn it into what they left.

Our GOP County Chair has been pushing much of what you say for a couple of years. ..we are a conservative GOP group...problem I see is it is the corporatists vs the constitutionalists..
I don’t want to give up but until we have a major breakdown (Terrorists, emp, etc) that is exhibit A for Apathetic Americans it will be hard to “educate.” IMHO this election is a watershed one...

But it was tried here in SoCal for several decades, and while I do know some Latino Americans who are conservative, it doesn’t “take” with the majority of Hispanics even as many do retain a general “religiousness.” Like Anglo Christians and Jews, they still often live a pretty secular life, using religion for holidays and life events only.

A lot of hispanic women are more into feminism almost as a reaction to their men. A lot of poor Hispanics just want goodies.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t try but it didn’t work that well even for the Bushes. My friend’s elderly hispanic father-in-law was the biggest Obama supporter I ever saw. Still likes him.

No comments on the Jeff Sessions approach? Or reducing legal immigration from the current 1.1 million a year?

I love the Sessions approach. However, Lawless Obama will invoke Executive Amnesty in a matter of weeks.

That's a problem.

I'm not really quitting, I just wanted to see what their response was to mine. Kinda to knock their constant drumbeat of defeatism.

Waddya got in mind?

I detailed it somewhat... develop a Spanish language curriculum, then find a way (group meetings, cable infomercials, whatever) in which we present the material. We may need a conservative icon with pockets to assist in the financing of the effort.

I love your determination. I too have hope that we can right this country. I hope that my somewhat pessimistic post above isn’t seen as a little voice of negativism about the goals of winning elections.

But assuming a basic conservatism among Hispanics has been tried for 20-30 years in SoCal, with less success as the years and population went on/up. Hispanics are a majority here. So please talk to conservative Hispanics here and see what wheels have already been invented, then see if you can do it better out East.

I do wish you luck. Obviously we do have some great elected officials who happen to be Hispanic in the country: hit them up for advice. Go for it.

Spanish media is as liberal as ours, and they don’t have even a Rush or a Fox News. Hmmm. Maybe there’s a tack.

We may never get a majority but I agree that they are ripe for us to make deep inroads.

We just need people who are prepared to make the case, and not pander. Its hard enough to find people who will even make the case to their own base, much less make the case to people outside the base. And almost every feeble attempt at outreach seems to involve pandering, which is insulting to the kind of people we are trying to reach.

You have to understand the basic perceptions of the people you are talking to, understand where they are coming from. But you can make the case, you just have to do it. Don’t assume they won’t listen, I’ve had good luck explaining conservative policies to south americans at least. In most cases they have never heard anyone make the case. Like most people they get all their news from mainstream news which is uniformly leftist in orientation, so no one has ever made the case to them. Once they’ve heard conservatism explained, a fair percentage accept it straight away. It is, after all, logical and principled. Logical and principled people don’t have any problem understanding it once it is presented.

But fat chance finding a politician who is prepared to stand up and present conservatism. There aren’t many Ted Cruz’s out there, sadly. A Mitch McConnell would never persuade anyone, he wouldn’t even try.

Just think, though, how many hispanics are in Rush’s audience, a tremendous number, and he isn’t even trying to attract that demographic. He just talks to people as people.

I’ve wondered this too, Hispanics tending to be religious.
The Left may recognize this, and it’s one reason they’re pushing the tolerance and promotion of illegal immigration as a trump move.

"Ok. All'a y'all convinced me."

Oh stop. We all know what's coming. IMO Much hinges on the pushback from hussein's green card give away. So I think it's a little premature for the "their just like us' stuff.

And BTW, I think we have been trying. It's just that messages containing self reliance, responsibility, and jobs, aren't as sexy as the 'you're special, the rules don't apply to you', and 'free everything'.

I wish I could agree with this but I recently returned from living 7 months in a small city in Mexico. I lived with a Mexican family and got a real taste of the culture.

I found them to be beyond socialistas. They were more like communists in their way of thinking.....always marching in the streets for unions and to maintain nationalization of oil.

They are forever marching in the streets for communist causes. I can’t emphasize that enough.

They blame us for their poverty. One of the neighbors has a photograph of the twin towers burning posted on his living room wall.

Many (not all) are extreme La Raza racists.

As for family values, I agree that the women have good family values. The men seem devoted to sex and alcohol. With the exception of Jehovah’s Witnesses, every single man that I was introduced to had a long history of promiscuity and a sense that they are entitled to have as many women as they want.

I found them to be sneaky and unwilling to take responsibility for their actions. I believe it is part of their culture to place blame on others for everything.

I am only generalizing, of course, but this does describe the majority.

I’m not posting this to be argumentative.....sorry if it seems that way.

Ok, thank you, perhaps I am wrong to see this as a potential voting bloc for our side. I will wait for others to weigh in.

I knew your point. My comment and question was about, and directed toward the defeatists, not you.

And they never responded.

Perhaps they took my advice. If one is a defeatist, there is no point logging in.
