He did try to shoot the second guard, but missed.
There were two of them on duty, bioth from the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders Reserve Uit located in Hamilton Ontario.
They each were issued guard rifles, but were not issued any ammunition in time of threat from international hostilities
and war. They were ambushed.
Little has been published about what exactly happened at the National Memorial. One was shot in the back running away, the other was shot at and the round missed him.He was running away too. If they were armed as true guards should have been, they cound have drawn down and dispatched the idiot. We have a wimp chain of command, ruled by liberal fascist political correctness policies rather that the proper military command. And we spend millions of tax dollars for THIS? Heads should role, instead of the group hugs happening now.
The ceremonial guard could easily have a functional sidearm and still be in uniform.
You said it.
Too bad none of the pinko MPs responsible for creating and maintaining that kind of society had to pay the price.
That is all very sad and so illustrative of why we’re in this mess. If I remember correctly, in the early days after 9/11 we had US troops in airports, but they had no ammo, or they were at least unloaded.
I wonder if the Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown are armed so they can defend themselves and others.
Yes, you are absolutely correct regarding the Corporal. However, even though Corporal Cirillo would likely still have died as a soldier murdered by an islamic assassin, his fellow Guardian of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier would have been able to END the rampage of the unholy before it began had his weapon been loaded.
That is something I do not understand: How can the Guardians protect ANYTHING if they are unarmed?
Good grief, the office of Sergeant-at-Arms is SUPPOSED to be a Ceremonial position! Thank G_d and his training and preparedness that he had a weapon available!
Just looked it up, and according to Wiki the Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns carry unloaded weapons and have no ammo while on guard.
Yes, that is most definitely the case in the USA, and it appears that it may also be the case up here.
Nonetheless, it is a mistake, and should be rectified by both your House of Representatives and our Parliament. Immediately, and with all the debate it deserves.
