Why?
Paging Willie Brown
Not this cr@p, again :(
After looking at the map, I'd say about 20% would be at less than maximum speed, so a 200 MPH train would probably "average" 100 - 130 over the course, making the trip a couple of hours (or so) for a premium price
NOTHING in America demands such speed for a human to be in one place so quickly that a corporate jet couldn't do
By the time this waste of money (SOMEone's paying for all this "study") .. the Pipeline will have been built, operational and contributed to $1.00 p/gal gasoline ... why bother ?
Oh, if you really must just monorail the damn thing down the center of I45.
Just wonder about passenger cost in $ and time. Would you have still have to spend as much time in travel prep as it would take just to drive it? TSA,parking, getting to train station? How about getting from station to destination? would it be any different than just driving from the north end of town or just jumping on a southwest flight from HOU?

While I am anti-Blight Rail, a PRIVATELY FINANCED high speed rail project doesn’t bother me provided farmers are not bullied off their lands or out of their homes by eminent domain (in other words, fair compensation is given for any land used) and the terminal points do not disturb traffic any more than regular rail would.
My main problem, besides logistics, is that Houston and the Dallas Metroplex are both very auto-dependent cities. How far can you get in either without needing a car? So, I am not sure the train would be a money-maker unless it can somehow become more efficient at getting business travelers between the two points at less cost and time than catching a flight on Southwest between Hobby and Love Field.
High speed rail is a zero!!! DOA!!! Why? A few choice words....Southwest Airlines and great Texas highways!!! High speed rail, a waste of time and money....even if it is private money!!!
If they’re smart they would do the BCS route. On weekends that thing would be full to the brim. Weekdays, the added length would not matter much and the right of way would be less expensive
I oppose any public funds for this crap
