does this include our troops who are being forced to go there ?
Well duh!
as usual our government chooses an half a$$ed way of doing things. how much is this and the screeners costing us taxpayers and how much would a travel ban cost?
Good, now if they would just conduct that monitoring outside the country at the start of the return.
Sounds like a half measure.
If everything is going swimmingly regarding the outbreak then why would the CDC be tightening its requirements?
On the other hand, maybe the democrats are getting flayed by this Ebola thing and are keen to be seen as being more serious about controlling for the election.
From what I could gather from the article, travelers from the infected areas can still enter the US, then go anywhere they want. But starting Monday, the CDC will contact them now and again to see how they feel.
And if the CDC can't find someone...oh, well...just move on to the next name on the list.
This is a PR stunt only.
yeah that’s the best way to stop the spread of a deadly disease..
have people call in daily to say they still feel OK while theyre eating soup at their fav restaurant, trying on bridal dresses at a store, flying on a plane or enjoying a Caribbean cruise..
no need to inconvenience anyone over Ebola..
This does nothing. I believe we would learn if they were sick even without this monitoring . This I just for spin.
Well they could institute gps tracking and monitoring of every human in the US. Implant some device that monitors where you go and your body temp. Why limit tracking to people coming over from west Africa and let this crisis go to waste. Track everyone. :-)
But wasn’t action supposed to make things worse?
For the realized kill rate, that’s not enough according to this article.

This sounds like a change, but since INS is going to be doing the monitoring, the net result is pretty much just the same as it was before.
Immigration loses track of MILLIONS who overstay their visas. So I have the fullest confidence they will successfully monitor these people for 21 days. Snark
Remember, there are 150 people per day coming from Ebola-land. Good luck with that; you’re gonna need it.
PING!
Drip...drip...drip...drip.....1
Monitored while they attend the Alabama/Auburn game, tour NYC, shop at busy malls, travel on crowded busses and subways or take a cruise?
What THEY hear: "Time to get on a bus, or a plane! How about a short cruise for 21 days! Lets go to Disney World!"
