President Barack Obama is watching the situation in Ottawa very closely.
The CBC reports Obama will be holding a briefing in the next half hour. The U-S Embassy in Ottawa is on lock down. The front doors of the Canadian Embassy in Washington DC have been locked but staff is allowed to come in and out.
Ottawa police say no arrests have been made in todays shootings in Ottawa. They do not have anyone in custody. One shooter is confirmed dead. The R-C-M-P is expected to be out with an update in the next 30 minutes.
I have my TV on delay as I watch and eat lunch (and post here), so I don’t know if the BO has pitched his version yet.
However, CNN has indicated that this is not a terrorist act, because Canada does know the name of the gunned shooter and they have reached out to our CIA/FBI. (Really, I don’t understand their logic.)
A reporter also said that Canada does keep tabs on their 90 jihadist sympathizers, and this can’t be one of them, just because...that is their logic.
It seems that also a CNN reporter is in one of the rooms in the Parliament and when he and other staffers, etc. were told to shelter in place, they heard what appeared to be seven gun shots in the outside stairwell, which indicated to him that there was still another shooter on the premises.
They also do not know is the soldier killed in front of the war memorial was killed by the shooter in the government building or if that was another gunman.
So far there have been shootings at only three locals: the Parliament, the war memorial (near Parliament Hill) and inside and outside of the parliament.
The mall shooting report was walked back.
The sergeant at arms is largely a ceremonial position, but the man who took down the first gunman, was once a Mountie. ( He’s an older gent, too. Good on him!)
So, terrorism does not equal knowing someone’s name.
The answer is 42.
(just needed sayin')
Thank-you for your piece. I have never read anything by Cornel West, and this was exceptional.
He is not afraid of calling the enemy by name and as he said, we should “root out the snake pits “ and their mosque on US soil.
Like Ebola, these government agencies like to report they know everything, so if anything goes wrong, it is outside the realm of possibility.
Made me nearly jump out of my seat, when I saw that second picture of Cornell West, whose name sounds like Cornel West, and could be confused with a American real leader.
I was so sad that Col. was targeted, frozen and taken down by the left. I am so glad he keeps active with his vigorous voice and un-politically correct stance.
I agree. CNN has an agenda to fulfill. But what is interesting about their reporting is that they are using Canadian news sources, but they give it their twist.
I am so sorry for the terrorism that has beset your country since Friday. The brief time my husband and I visited, we met remarkably kind and hospitable people. This is a terrible tragedy. My prayers are with you and all the good people of Canada.
It needs sayin’ everyday...
Thanks!
Thinking back to his Ft Hood response... the response I’m having difficulty recalling.
That’s hilarious.
A different soldier was hit by a Jihadi driver two days ago.
You got to hand it to them. They can be radicalized from afar, and the mere simple suggestion to kill soldiers with guns, if they can get them (his looks like he stole it from someone’s gramps), blow up a bomb, if they can make one, or just use a car, and using it as a ramming device.
I have to say, I was feeling uneasy that the jihad was too quiet lately, and I feared a significant re-emergence.
workplace violence...yada...lone wolf...tragedy...remember this is all because of climate change...yada,* must look sad*
