OTTAWA SHOOTINGS UPDATE 19: Obama to hold a briefing in a half hour

President Barack Obama is watching the situation in Ottawa very closely.

The CBC reports Obama will be holding a briefing in the next half hour. The U-S Embassy in Ottawa is on lock down. The front doors of the Canadian Embassy in Washington DC have been locked but staff is allowed to come in and out.

Ottawa police say no arrests have been made in today’s shootings in Ottawa. They do not have anyone in custody. One shooter is confirmed dead. The R-C-M-P is expected to be out with an update in the next 30 minutes.

I am watching CNN. There is a reporter in Canada talking to the host and the host said that the security in Parliament is not armed. And that is was unfortunate that there was not anyone able to stop them from storming the doors, when it happened.

The reporter said, “some” security personnel are armed. But from where they started shooting 250’ away, no one could have been in position to do anything about the attack.

She also said that the sergeant at arms is in charge of the entire security of the Parliament building. It would be like a police chief here, leaving his office to make the drop.

Incredible, how unprepared they were and how they still maintain that an armed security force would have been a deterrent or a rebuff.
