But, last time this happened, the election officials withheld vote totals from the media to make it appear as if the D-candidate might be winning. In the end, the collective totals were given and the R group was found to be favored. The media cried foul!
Since these numbers are released to the media, there is no ^requirement^ to provide full disclosure. The local election folks should take this as a lesson in media culpability.
Give them what they want unless required by official pathways. I’d go so far as to advocate out-right LYING to the media when asked about results. It isn’t like they would lie to the election officials to obtain a story.
