Outgoing First Minister Alex Salmond has been compared to a Japanese soldier who believed World War II was still happening years after peace was declared.
Nick Clegg, the deputy prime minister, made the remarks as he called on the SNP leader to accept the result of last months independence referendum. [ ]
Mr. Salmond appeared to open the door to an early re-run of the vote last week, saying circumstances obviously can change and that a breach of the pre-referendum vow to Scotland could pave the way for another ballot.

See how fast they go from vowing to ridiculing...
Poor Alex Salmond. You know you have hit rock bottom when you get ridiculed by Nick Clegg. At least he knows the only way is up from here. Poor chap has had a bad few weeks. He’s probably feeling quite low, and now this. Ridiculed by Nick Clegg. A little bit of him must have died inside.
I’d be depressed too, if I had held a referendum for my socialist paradise, got to choose the wording, choose the date, choose who could vote and who could not, managed to whip up an ever-so-pleasant and recreational English-bashing fervor, had to face a weak and chaotic opposition campaign, and STILL lost by 10 points. The sheer ingratitude of the Scottish people!
Still, all is not lost, all is never lost, to a true dyed-in-the-wool Leftist. If the election goes the wrong way it is clearly the fault of the people. The only solution is to hold the election again and again and again, until the RIGHT result occurs.
The Socialist Promised Land will be reached! Not even Nick Clegg can ridicule that.
