Pot smoking and its stereotypical associations like munching on carbohydrates and other treats seems like itd be your teeths worst enemy.
And now some Colorado dentists are saying more research needs to be done on how smoking pot can affect dental health, including causing an increase in cavities.
Weve been finding more cavities in our patients who are smoking more than a few times a week, dental hygienist Julie Baukus at LoDo Dental says.
The journal of the American Dental Association finds smoking marijuana can lead to abnormal growths and lesions inside the mouth. Some Colorado dentists are asking for studies on cavities.

The premise here is that once re-legalized there there will be throngs of otherwise responsible people bingeing on naughty vegetables. I do not see that happening. Is that how you spell binge ing?

I only speak for myself, but that has not been the case for me.
One would think pot would case periodontal problems rather than tooth decay.
I knew a guy who got ‘geographic tongue’ from smoking pot. The pot dried out his mouth and messed up the ‘ecology’ of the tongue, which became covered with a white, furry coating. Marijuana is like anything else - a mixture of good and bad. I suspect there is a lot of good yet to be discovered in the marijuana plant.
Utter BS. Brush and floss like one should and you’ll be fine.

LOL! Typically, when someone is smoking a lot of marijuana, they’re usually at a period in their life or they’re not very responsible. That means that they would likely not be brushing their teeth anyway. Once they grow up a bit, have jobs, kids of their own, and brushing there teeth like mad. Then they will only smoke pot once every couple months when they don’t have something pressing to do and the kids are not around.
Your story illustrates the main problem behind all this, dry mouth, which causes accelerated dental problems.
Dry mouth is mentioned in the linked article, and is a symptom of Sjogren’s disease also.
If you have dry mouth (not from smoking) consider the possibility that you may have Sjogren’s
“who are smoking more than a few times a week”
Wow, that’s a lot of dope smoking! Probably not sober long enough for any kind of hygiene, much less teeth brushing.
Dope fiends eat plenty of sweet “munchies” as their brains revert back to that of a five year old that likes candies and sweets. This is why they might get more cavities. From the sweets and funyuns and other crappy industrialized food they scarf down.
There is no hope in dope!
In addition to recommending healthier foods for healthier mouths, dentists advise patients to use mouth spray or gum, which promote saliva on teeth.
Dentists are not on record as advising that pot be illegsl.
Its just slacker behavior caused by chronic use pattern
An indirect relationship
I doubt cannaboids cause dental caries

Worse, it could Kill you!

If you smoked 240 joints in a row.
