I have to say this, but your post is very clueless, and terribly disrespectful.
That woman and her compatriots were outgunned and outnumbered. They were literally fight for their very lives. If they lost they would have been massacred in a most brutal fashion. The women would fare the worst as they would have been raped then massacred, or made into sex slaves.
BTW, you lived for some time in a very sheltered and pampered environment on an ARAMCO compound in KSA. You have traveled a bit in the region. That does not mean that everyone else on this forum is ignorant of the outside world or the middle east. There are others too who have traveled and seen the world. You are probably grateful to the Saudis for the great income and good life as an ARAMCO employee.

It's a shame that some people here on FR can do nothing else but stoop to ad hominum attacks when FReepers disagree with them. Those attacks USED to be banned. I guess they're OKAY now. Shame.
Why was this woman IN COMBAT? Women in combat? I didn’t think too many cultures thought that was a good idea.
Maybe the Muslims are like the Hindus...men go to heaven and get rewarded. There doesn’t seem to be the promise of reward for Muslim women who die in combat. There are “houris” for the men, but what about the women in combat? I didn’t think Muslim countries had women in combat.
LIVING there for five years was an education for me. I grew up knowing NO Saudis, Arabs or Muslims.
Growing up our family had no money for travel. We were strictly blue collar. We were grateful for what we had at the time. The ARAMCO money we traveled on was especially to places that we KNEW we'd never ordinarily see OR return to.
The incomes we made we earned. There is no gratitude for that. Why would there be? ARAMCO has to pay those wages to get the American engineers to live and work there. The company gave us "re-pat bonuses" to insure a great trip home. All ARAMCONS HAD to out of the Kingdom at least three weeks a year because it knew that we needed it.
So many ARAMCONS were going home on leave and NOT returning to the KSA, that ARAMCO started giving us four-figure bonuses JUST to come back and work some more. There are Americans who worked 35 years over there.
ARAMCO doesn't hire American engineers under 26 and mandatory retirement is 60, so the working lifespan in limited. THIRTY-FIVE years is just about the maximum.
We were there only five years, but it sure seemed longer. When we landed at LAX on our final flight home I kissed the floor of the LAX airport. I was so glad to be home for good.

I remember when the U.S. had that "women in combat" debate. The U.S. women warriors were all for it but American MEN didn't care for it because they would feel inclined to be protective about their own women.
The believed that their focus would be distracted, quite naturally, by seeing their own fellow soldiers, WOMEN, fighting an uneven fight against men. In fact, some felt that they were unnecessarily endangering their own men warriors by their presence on the battle field.
It would be hard for all of us to see the dead women, fighting the uneven battle, returning home in body bags. Perhaps Muslim men, these jihadists in particular, don't feel the same way as American soldiers do about "women warriors" on the field of battle.
Imagine what the Nazis, Japanese or Russians would have done with Allied women warrior POWs.
We could send them bags of bacon bits, pork sausages or chitterlings to use for bombardments.
I'd say that AK-47 she carries evens up the odds considerably.

One thing your responses seem to lack is an appreciation or even a remote level if understanding the fight-or-die situation the Kurdish people are facing in Syria an Iraq. While applying an American standard would be preferable in a perfect world, these people don’t have the luxury have sitting out aggression. Unlike us, they’re not fighting to support faraway allies or secure an energy source. They’re taking up arms to safeguard their lives and those in their communities who are unable to so. And your earlier labeling of that intrepid young warfighter as a “moron” was over-the-top elitist and ignorant.
