Breaking news in Sweden after two days of hunt. Swedish government report that a russian submarine is sending an SOS message on a de-crypted frequency.

The Swedes have been putting out anti sub mines in their waters. They sit on the bottom. If a Swedish or NATO sub comes along they ping it with the code and nothing happens if you don’t have the code it activates and comes after you.

All you need are simple sugars and yeast. with grain, the yeast cultures convert starches into sugars and then alcohol. If you have sugar then you’re cutting out a step. Case in point: i live in sugar beet country. People will sometimes make a kind of beet moonshine. It’s clear and mostly tasteless from what I hear (i haven’t found anyone willing to give me any yet). potatoes are a popular choice for hooch as well.

There was a Russian submarine years ago that couldn’t surface and settled on the ocean floor. Russia denied it until it was too late, rebuffing all offers of help. All the men perished, slowly suffocating to death.
Maybe the crew was watching the movie Das Boot and got distracted.
Yes it was. Swedish series tend to be fairly depressing most of the time without the “je ne sais quoi” of either the French or Italian shows. Heck even the Finns and Germans have a much better sense of wry humor in amongst all the crime.
Never has been. You could always spot a Soviet submariner by the fact he was bald and sterile.
Sub was the Kursk which sank back in 2000. Most of here were cheering reports that some crewmen could have been rescued but those turned out to be BS.

If your scenario is correct the sub wouldn’t have gotten far from where it was observed: wouldn’t the Swedes have found it by now?
