The case for voting Republicans, even those you think are Rinos
10/18/2014 | chrisnj

Posted on 10/18/2014 4:45:34 AM PDT by chrisnj

Many conservative voters are disillusioned at the Republicans for not standing up for their principles, for compromising with the Democrats, for having no spines etc. etc. They vow not to vote for the Republicans, or outright vote for the Democrats, to send them a message, to teach them a lesson. I think this kind of message/lesson serves no purpose but to cut off your own supply of oxygen.

Almost all the Republicans rejected obumbocrap (obamacare) but Harry Reid and his crooked Dems jammed it through deviously. The House Republicans have passed many legislations to repeal obumbocrap but Reid et al killed them all. The House Republicans have passed many good legislations but Reid and his crooks buried them all. The media blasted the Republicans on all their good constitutional/conservative acts, but remained silent on the Democrats' constant acts to destroy the constitution. This is a known fact and all of us always complain about it. Yet we are not showing any understanding of the difficult situations facing the House Republicans. While the Dem voters are behind their Dems 100%, we are demanding perfection while offering no help. We blame the Republicans for this and that but we are not working hard to create an opportunity or situation where they can stand on their principles and serve us faithfully. Why don't we vote them into majority in both House and Senate, so they have more control and feel less pressured to compromise, but more encouraged to listen to us to enact constitutional legislations for the good of the country. This is not excuses for the Republicans' non-performance. It is simply a fact that a good person can only do so much under difficult situations! We should understand that it is human nature to be rather weak, especially when under pressure. But given the favorable situations we are more likely to stand up taller for our principles. Remember when the Republicans were the majority in both Houses - even with a Democrat president Clinton, Congress was able to serve the people well! So if we are able to vote the Republicans into the majority, we just might be able to influence them into reversing the course to get our country back on the right track. Considering that many people have awaken and patriots are much more enthusiatically engaged in shaping government policies, we can realistically hope to get better leaders who will listen to the people again. All we need to do is unite and vote the crooks out but vote the acceptable albeit imperfect Republican candidates in, then work hard to influence them...

Certainly, with rampant voter fraud, ignorant and low-information voters, AND, the conservatives who vow to stay home or vote for the Dems, there is no hope that the Republicans will be in control of both Houses. It was said that those conservatives who wouldn't vote for the Republicans are part of the reasons why the Dems won the elections. So these conservatives are in effect cutting off the supply of oxygen to their own hopes (and our hopes)!

History suggests that the Republicans are more constitution-abiding leaders. We need to create the opportunities for them to abide to the constituion - by voting them into majority and then pressuring them into serving the people the way they should.

Yes, one of them being that I will vote against whoever violates my principles the MOST - even if that is an unsatisfactory choice.

For your tiny brains info, that’s making an adult choice, not compromising on ones principles. Your self righteousness is nauseating and ends up screwing YOU more than anyone else. No, I don’t expect you to understand what I just said.

The last 30 years of DemocRat control proves that voting for RINOs is peein in the wind.

You lack any ability to debate the issue.

After the primary there are ONLY 2 options on the menu, and you will be forced to eat one of them every day for the next 2-4 years.

If you don’t vote someone be ordering for you!

“So tell me how you are going to reform the process by staying home/not voting/writing in a candidate on election day?”

If you need an example, please read up on Joe Straus and what he did in the Texas legislature. He is the poster child example of a RINO that would be worse than a dem.

Did you know that bush 43 changed his mind on Harriet Miers BECAUSE of the outcry from the right?

That wouldn’t have happened had he not been in office in the first place, right?

But go ahead with the scorched earth policy of only voting for your perfect candidate (there are none).

That’s what got us zero/fast and furious/benghazi/ebola in the first place.

Thank you very much.

Are you denying that voting for RINOs has stopped nothing? You need to stop drinking the koolaid.

So... you in my example I’m putting forth to the thread. You would advocate voting for the speaker of the Texas house even though he sold out conservatives?

I appreciate the dialog, Norm ... I truly do ... and I understand your point. So let's take a look at a possible outcome.

It's the day after Election Day. You live in Kentucky (just for argument's sake) and along with hundreds of thousands of like-minded conservatives you did not vote for Mitch McConnell (believe me, I understand why you wouldn't!). The old-boy "King of the RINOs" has lost his seat to a Democrat-Socialist. You feel good -- content that you have not compromised your conservative principles. But along with similar action by like-minded conservatives in other toss-up states the Democrat-Socialists have maintained control of the Senate ... Harry Red still runs the show during obama's last two years.

Other than replacing -- in this example -- Ol' McConnell as minority leader (which would be a good thing but maybe no difference depending on who his replacement is), the Senate remains in control by those who want to "fundamentally change America" ... those who hate traditional American values and who despise conservatives .. even more than the GOPEs do.

I think that, as poor and as compromised a leader McConnell is, this would be a far, far worse outcome than re-electing McConnell and gaining control of the Senate,, even if it's by RINOs. I really do ... and I'm a staunch conservative.

All I am suggesting is that you consider ... just consider ... the potentially devastating outcome of leaving control of the Senate in the hands of the Democrat-Socialist Party.

Indeed...Jeffords, Snowe, Collins, Chaffee, and so on really advanced the cause of conservatism.

So you are saying that electing a RINO in order to claim a win by turning him temporarily is a win?

How about not electing a rino to begin with?

Bet ya never thought of that one! See, that way we don’t have to fight with our own damn people on core issues. Wow! Novel concept!

Since Romney got more independents than McCain, doesn’t that lead to the inevitable conclusion that the next Republican nominee needs to be even more liberal, you know, to attract even more independents?

Yes, I would vote for him. I AM voting for state Republicans in this election that I do not trust and cannot stand, simply because the Democrats are more dangerous in other ways.

That is your choice, I have to disagree about which would be more dangerous.

The Republican-leaning independents mentioned below, are they conservative purists or squishy moderates?

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/11/12/obama-s-dirty-little-secret-to-winning-the-2012-presidential-election.html

...In the end, the enthusiasm edge may have helped drive right-wing true believers to the polls in disproportionate numbers, and self-described conservatives outnumbered acknowledged liberals by 35 percent to 25 percent, according to exit polls. But this advantage couldn’t compensate for the no-show status of Republican-leaning independents...

“This RINO hijacked the Texas senate for two years to stop conservatives. Many of his minions were defeated in primaries, but he was not....

You are telling me that you would vote for him?”

Was he more conservative than the demonrat that ran against him in the general election? If not I would have voted for the demonrat.

Vote the most conservative in every election, primary and general.

“you are such a silly little girl”

That is the second time you have tried to insult me by referring to me as a female. Are you really such a sexist pig that you don’t realize it is poor form to do so in a public forum?

You can add McAmnesty, Grahamnesty, McCornole, Bonor, Cornrow, Booby Hatch, etc who for all intensive purposes are DemocRats. There are a handfull of Senators and about 30 Reps who can be counted on. The rest are ‘Rats with an R after their name.

There is one outcome. When we elect liberals they enact liberalism D or R. Thats a simple truth that plays out every time it happens.

The GOP just promised Amnesty. the GOP has fully Funded Barry 3 times in CRs. Barry could not do that with a conservative house. But he could with a Dem house. So since a Dem house and a Dem senate are by their actions on Amnesty, defense of marriage, giving muslims weapons, investigating one thing to no end After another...

Where exactly is the win? Where? Because an R funds libs we wiun? Because an R stalls investigations we win? Because an R refuses to send holder anything but a wrist slap we win?

Where is the ‘better than a dem’?

Where?
