We should all be mindful of the fact that there are people posting here on FR who are here to convince us that the republicans aren’t conservative enough.

Divide and conquer. It worked in 2008, 2010, 2012, and it is still working here in 2014.

If we can’t bring ourselves to support the republican on the ballot, we should at the very least vote against the democrat.

....and about 37% of the vote. Nice work.

Which is precisely why this country is finished. When the opposition party is that far to the Left, and the electorate has been effective propagandized by the leftist media, what else can be done, other than: embrace the suck, get out, or take up arms to overthrow the system and start over again?

When given a choice of voting for someone who would be with us 80% of the time, they allowed someone who would be with us 0% of the time to take office. What stupidity. No wonder we are losing this war.

I can see this debate from both sides, but your post actually lends support to the "purist" argument. We aren't losing the war because we don't support the guy who supports us 80% of the time. We're losing the war because we've long considered an "80% conservative" an acceptable candidate when his opponent is a "100% liberal."

Conceding 20% of the conservative agenda over and over again -- to a leftist movement that is 100% in lockstep on every major issue -- is why we're losing the war.

What’s funny is that on one thread we see you guys telling us that the country is lost, that it’s hopeless.

Then on the next thread you’re lecturing us political strategy.

Do you see the disconnect here?

Has nothing to do with teaching anyone a lesson.

I am not a purist, but I have about 4-5 core political principles and any candidate I support must be on the right side of those issues. It's really that simple. Sending a Republican to Washington because it's supposedly going to block (or even slow) implementation of a radical leftist agenda might sound great on paper, but when that same Republican is an ardent advocate of a full-scale foreign invasion across our southern border then I wouldn't walk across the street to vote for the guy.

Well a few thoughts: I never called you a purists. That's a widely misused term. Second, your absurd description of the RINO position as a "full scale invasion" is just not true. If you think it is, you're making yourself more miserable than you need to, or you're just blowing off steam, or you don't fully realize the difference in the two parties on this, even for those Republicans who are too far left on this issue. But I'm sure you felt self righteous in typing it.

I would also say on a practical level, that having someone who violated all five of your core principles is going to f-K your life up a lot more than someone who violates maybe 2. Too many Freepers think "lesser of two evils" is always a bad thing. When that cliche was developed, it was a good thing - to be wise enough to distinguish the lesser of two evils when given a not so great choice.

I mean, if evil is bad - then MORE EVIL is by definition WORSE than less evil. It's not the same, it's not better, it's WORSE. PERIOD.

“A better approach is to increase the number of allies.”

Thanks for the advice, but those who presented us today’s world are such a small unmovable minority that I have little confidence that such “principled” folks will be able to make the change.

Conservatives are not “issues” voters. You are either Conservative or you are not.

You can be pro-life, against gay marriage, fiscally responsible, a church going, lifelong member of the NRA who home schools your kids. But if you believe in immigration reform, you are a liberal.

Politicians need votes to win. If we don’t vote for them because of a single issue, the only place to get that vote is move to the left. Once there, they now have to listen to that constituency. Now they vote with Democrats more and more because thats their new voting block, and in 3 or 4 terms, the conversion to RINO is complete.

The same reason we are losing elections is the same reason rats are winning elections. They see the forest from the trees. We look at the tree, cut it down then wonder why the forest is burning.

The rats don’t play fair. We know that, they know that and they do not care because they know we have a document and laws that we abide by. And they telegraph that they will use it against us. They taunt us, goad us into saying and doing things that are then held against us in the press. They even tell us what it will take to change things and still we do nothing.

Want to change things? Take control of the senate and then work to transition young Conservatives into retiring RINO seats. Easiest way to keep RINO’s in the senate is to go after them hard. It’s like pissing off a stubborn grandfather.

Right or wrong, that’s how it is. Vote, stay home is your choice.

Excuse me? You’re logic is flawed based on fact and evidence. There hasn’t been a conservative in the White House for 26 years and news flash there probably won’t be in our lifetimes...in case you hadn’t noticed the electorate is stuffed with flawed LEGAL immigrants and a society of takers and a media that will never again allow a Reagan type to ever see the oval office again. 26 years is an irrefutable fact. We are conservatives but are strategic about how we retake the White House. Some look at there here and now and as such we can thank for putting the goon we have in office right along with thanking the liberals

-- If every "True American" would be encourage to vote or assisted to vote, we would have a mandate of more than 60% to change the direction of this great country. --

My point of view is that it's up to the politician and his party to jazz up the public with a platform of change. Apparantly, the "change" theme works good, at least it worked for Obama.

....by voting them into majority and then pressuring them into serving the people the way they should.

Yeah; o.k. Good luck with that! During the Bush years, at one time, we had the WH and both the Senate and the House. We still had same-sex marriage, abortion, out-of-control spending........ Anyhow, my prediction as to what the Senate will look like come January 2015: 53 GOP / 47 'RAT And, I'm sure the entire FReeper family agrees with my prediction. (/sarc) But, seriously, that's my prediction.

Not a damn thing is going to change with the Republicans controlling the Senate. The Democrats will still call the shots, even in the minority.
