Please call congress and tell them that we must be deadly serious about containing Ebola by strict quarantine within the United States and from infected nations. This is our right and it is our duty.

I called my congressman this morning in Washington and got right through, same thing for the local office. That tells me not many people are calling.
Why isn't a special session of Congress called to deal with this outbreak? It is a potentially serious threat to national security and time is of the essence.
I believe decisive response is urgent because you can't put this Ebola genie back in the bottle once it gets out. It is a fire, it consumes all the fuel it can get and the fuel is people. The only way to stop a fire is to block it from the fuel or cool it with water. A vaccine or medicine to treat Ebola would be the water and we don't have reliable, enough or any.
Every possible measure must be taken to stop the spread before draconian measures are imposed. What is being done now is sloppy. We are walking a dangerous road. The threat is blossoming by the day if not hour. Almost every hour there is some new Ebola development and none of them are good. This is a serious and potentially deadly event. Unchecked it could destroy or weaken the United States and facilitate our destruction by others. It has that potential for every country and that is why so many are responding with such strict quarantines. These consequences, no matter how small the probabilities, demand a full effort and significant response.
Please, please call. It may be all we can do to stop this. Individually and hunkered down in our homes and communities we are powerless. Obama is not taking rational measures his own. He is letting Ebola run but making it look like he is doing something by appointing lawyer political hack czars and when it gets out of control he will say CDC made a mistake. By then legions of people will be dead and the United States will be wrecked.
What is happening now is insane. It makes no sense at all. For example the head of CDC says: “Stopping travel from Africa won’t do any good because you have to get people into Africa to fight Ebola.” “You can’t get Ebola from an infected person on a bus but an infected person should never be on a bus because he can infect others.” "Blocking travel from infected countries would damage their fragile economies." What about ours? You've seen the stock market these last few days.
Even the most despotic dictatorship in Africa has acted to protect his nation by strict quarantine and stopping travel from infected countries. Even CDC, the UN and WHO advocate and credit strict quarantine for nipping the spread of Ebola in the bud at the source in places like Senegal and Nigeria where both have had faster and more successful outbreak controls than we have had here. 35 countries have stopped travel of people from infected West African countries. It is so obvious even a child could understand it so why is it OK for people from infected countries to travel here?
I have seen CDC in action to stop a potential TB infection dead in its tracks in 2006. I know there are intelligent, capable people there who know what to do. Why they are not standing up and standing out on principle to do the right thing is a mystery to me. Have we all become so cowed by this juggernaut of a government that we can't stand for what we believe and even know to be right?
When something is being done that makes as little sense as what Obama is doing there has to be some other reason. I leave it to you dear reader to draw your own conclusions as to the reasons.
Ebola is being spread here in the United States right now. First Texas, then Ohio then? Terror is an excellent weapon. It disrupts, confuses, paralyzes and destroys a society. Many others and we on FR have speculated that terrorists may spread Ebola. How do you that remember 9/11 feel right now compared to what you felt then? Do you want to gather your loved ones near you to protect them? I do. Even more than I did on September 11, 2001! Isn't this passive response by this administration accomplishing the very same things a terrorist would want?
Consider the course of this outbreak. It began more than three weeks ago on September 20 when a person exposed to an active Ebola case in Liberia, apparently without a fever and not symptomatic lied about his history and entered our country. He committed a crime against all of us but now he is dead. I believe he was motivated by reasons other than his own protection. We were told that strict protocols were in place to control spread of the disease.... we know that was a lie. We were told that all the exposed persons would be closely monitored for 21 days. That too was a lie. They were even allowed to travel on cruise ships and airplanes. We had a quiet period for a week or so after Duncan died and now another outbreak that has exploded from 70 or so exposed to well over 400 hundred exposed to an infected and symptomatic person. Now we wait again, another 21 days and pray nobody else in the first sequence of exposures is sick and spreading the disease. Unchecked the frequency of the outbreaks will increase until it is a steady flow.
I have considered my message carefully. I believe it is a responsible thing to do. All the actions I encourage are lawful. I have tried to be as factual and honest as I possibly can in sorting the flood of information we have been fed in the last three weeks. I have expressed my opinions as a still free person and believe that to still be within my rights under the Constitution. I disagree with Obama, his administration and all that it stands for and all it stands against. I doubt that we have one single thought or principle in common. That expression is also my lawful right. I know we are being watched and I fear retribution. We have become a nation where if you show me the man there is a crime he can be accused of. This government can threaten and attack us as individuals and our families. We have seen them do this already. Our choices are not just about us. What a shame. What a tragedy. The founders were brilliant and forward thinking but they believed the goodness and honor of man would protect the Nation against abuse of power. They had too much faith in men.

I've been around for awhile. I can be wrong but I usually get mega trends right and so do most people but more often than not they don't listen to their gut and their experience. When I don't listen to my instincts I have usually waited too late.
I make it a habit not to call on the Lord for small things and try to handle them on my own and usually can. He blessed me with a measure of ability and gives me all the wisdom I ask for without measure. I figure he must be awfully busy with people who need much more than I do but today we are faced with a problem much bigger than any of us can handle alone. It is time for me to get on my knees and pray.
Dear Lord in heaven please bring us to our senses and give us the wisdom to take the right actions for our own protection. We were once a shining beacon on a hill and a virtuous helper and example for all to aspire to be in their own nations. Please motivate, help and protect us to once again be that light for your good works to the world. Please give us the strength and the wisdom to help us protect our loved ones and help ourselves. Yep, burn up the lines! No one allowed in with a passport from any Hot Spot! And any Americans returning from a Hot Spot should be quarantined for a month and a half.
How about instead we get McCain to treat these airlines like they are JD Hayworth in a primary fight and tell these particular airlines “Don’t wait for the FAA or Obama, stop all flights from affected countries or I will call my allies in the House and Senate and convene hearings to go over with a fine tooth comb all of your business dealings and all of your personal dealings live on TV and one way or another either voluntarily or coerced you will cease the importation of infected persons into the US.
This administration has at least as much affinity to Africans as Americans. We are not exceptional in their minds, we are just more citizens of the world deserving no more protection than anyone in Africa might. They can’t bring themselves to bar Africans, because they see themselves and their families as African.
This is the reason “natural born” is in the constitution. Really simple.

I made my calls already.
I feel just like you but there is a 100% chance of nothing with nothing. Because of that I usually don’t say much at all. I’ve seen blistering phone campaigns work before. We will never be heard if we don’t shout and scream from the rooftops.
I am genuinely afraid right now for all of us. I feel there is a need for a call to arms with as much as we can muster and as urgently as we can do it.
I am deeply cynical but I can’t let that stop me from doing all I think I can do. If it were lawful I’d shout fire in a theatre to get attention to this crisis. Even Ted Cruz is calling it a crisis. He is a responsible young man.
I pray it is not too late already for all of us.

There are more important things to consider now. Debating this is not a good use of time because without addressing immediate threats to national security it would be for nothing.

Please tell me how you justify such a premise that their design is fulfilled and operating now? I must ask, are you blind or simply filled with innocent idealism?
They believed, wrongly, that people would understand that without personal negative consequence the there is no responsibility. They provided the means to destroy in the amendment process and that was fulfilled when the vote was given to people who do not have a stake in negative consequences. Those are the people that God always makes more of, the have nots and then people without honor have caught on that they can vote themselves a raise from the treasury with the money of the productive portion of the population.

No. Overnight, the 17th Amendment rendered the Framers' federal republic into a democratic republic. Whereas power was previously diffused between the states and government they created, the 17th immediately concentrated power in DC.
The Constitution acts upon both the states and the people. Both were represented until 1913. It makes as much sense to remove the states from the government as it does to remove the people . . . none.
