I read the link that marktwain provided above (post 3 or 4?), and the person the SS was after is stated to have a CCW. That's it. No view of a gun by anybody responding, etc.

I do agree with your point. The press and many in the government aim to discourage gun ownership.

Stupid on the Secret Service's part if true as even a lawyer fresh out of law school could have gotten any evidence obtained during the illegal search thrown out in a heartbeat.....

Their purpose wasn't to put him on trial. Their purpose was to intimidate. Oh, and if they wanted a trial, they could work up an alternate path to the evidence that the search got them, and even if a skilled attorney got it thrown out, the citizen would likely be bankrupted along the way.

Maybe, but I doubt it. In any case it’s in his home, so a CCW permit is irrelevant. Like I said I’ve seen many stories referring to guns as “licensed” when they mean “legal”.
