Republicans: Immigration reform is more likely to happen if we take the Senate
Buzzfeed ^

Key House Republicans say congressional action on immigration is much more likely if Republicans take control of the Senate.

The effort, two Republicans say, would likely involve individual measures rather than a broad, comprehensive bill favored by Democrats.

"I actually think it's more likely, if we take the Senate, that we will have immigration reform," said Rep. Raul Labrador. "We will be able to do it on a step-by-step approach like most Republicans have been asking to do and I think the American people want."

Labrador, who was a member of the bipartisan House group working on the issue before exiting, foresees a Republican-controlled Congress passing a series of bills that deal with the border and focus on interior security and guest-worker programs.

"I don't want to mislead; it's a difficult lift as we all know," Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart told BuzzFeed News. "But we would have a better shot at getting it done if Republicans take control of the Senate for the simple reason that it could be initiated in the House with close coordination with the Senate."

How about just calling ourselves “Conservatives”. you know, since the GOP isn’t using it I figure it’s available.

The situation you describe does not exist because the government isn’t controlling my most basic rights enough. It’s because those who supposedly represent us are doing everything they have no legitimate power to do, and few of the things they’ve actually sworn to do.

I agree completely with the second sentence and I think we'd agree that much care must be taken to not go further down the road of the fedgov arrogating more unconstitutional power to itself. I'm still struggling to get a grip, though, on the crux of your e-Verify objection. Is it that you fear an e-Verify database would morph into a general ID required for circumstances other than proof of citizenship?

I don’t think they will mind. Although all the people screaming for Romney 3.0 seem to think they hold exclusive title to it for some unfathomable reason... we can safley ignore them I think.

the loudest ones have been strangely absent for a couple days now, but the trainees have been mouthy. Must suck to be so stupid you don’t even know your heroes sent you into battle as cannon fodder but hell, they all think more liberalism in the Right is the path to fixing America so none of’em are very bright anyway.

I mean, they must right? Otherwise why are they pushing more liberal republicans?

We WANT immigration reform, just not the way the RATs and RINOs do. Build the border WALL, keep close tabs on all foreign nationals here with visas and punish overstays with banning, deny entry to any non-citizen Muslim and to anyone coming from East Africa (directly or otherwise) and make it simple (not EASY, simple) for useful productive individuals to apply to come in.

E-Verify amounts to a national database of every American, and a requirement that every American get permission from the government to work and earn their daily bread.

Nonsense, I got news for you, you are already part of several national databases including social security and the IRS. Everyone is and there is no getting around it unless of course you are an illegal alien.

No amount of border enforcement will work if you keep the pull factor of employment in place. It is a the very heart of the problem.

The government is not giving you permission to get employment, that is already your right. What the government is doing is verifying your right in advance to an employer so the employer does not face fines or criminal prosecution.

Why is Immigration Reform a dirty word? If they were to build a wall along the entire southern border, wouldn't that be a form of Immigration Reform?

The current immigration laws obviously do not work, so there needs to be some sort of reform. This is what I would start out with.

Immediately secure the southern border. Next, create a process (path-to-citizenship) for those illegals already here. This process must include showing that the immigrant is capable of supporting themselves, and their family. Anyone who does not meet the above, or chooses not to apply, would be immediately deported.

I live in Texas, and have met a number of legal and illegal immigrants, and the ones that I have met are very hard working, family oriented, and would make great conservatives. But the problem is that when they came in, they were followed by millions of worthless immigrants, who want nothing more than to live in what they consider Northern Mexico. We need to keep the first, and deport the second.

If we can keep the hard workers and get rid of the crud, they could turn the US hard right! Hard working immigrants are VERY conservative, keep those, and get rid of the moochers, and the US might be in much better shape.

I’m not against the idea of EVerify in concept completely myself, and I wholly agree with you about the attraction thing.

However, we need that wall done right and when we get it, there will be no need for another database for the IRS types of the future to exploit. because done properly, they can be as attracted as they like. only a fraction of a fraction will ever make it in. Yes, physical enforcement eliminates the need for more govt regulation on this issue. It is doable and effective.

And that will force them to fix their own craphole.

The GOP Establishment can to go F’ing Hell!

They stand in the way of conservatives routing the democrats. Their poll margins this election should be in two digits or high single digits, yet they are in fact razor thin.

We don’t need the GOP. Obama has been stymied with Tea Party Conservatives in the House and with Cruz-like Conservatives in the Senate.

As much as I would fantasize about the GOP taking the Senate, I know and remain aware that it is just that, a fantasy. And I remember all too well how I and so many others worked to the bone and gave every last dime to ensure GW Bush has a GOP House and a GOP Senate in his 2nd term and look at the result. With the GOP in control of the Senate meaning McConnell, conservatives can expect to be flogged in obscurity.

All conservatives need do is survive until 2016. In the meantime they can fight Obama using a novel means of federal injunctive orders. Here’s how:

SURVIVAL UNTIL 2016: There is another way to combat Obama’s lawlessness and his lawlessness is about to unleash a horror on all of us after the midterm elections. He will by EO create amnesty for millions upon millions of law-breaking persons known as illegal aliens.

But the aim of these EOs is not humanitarian, it is political. These law breakers will be granted amnesty in some form and there will be those who argue it is not amnesty but they will be legalized in some sense. And because they are not opposed to breaking laws, they will have no second thoughts about breaking more laws such as registering to vote while fraudulently claiming they are eligible. And throughout the process they will be guided and coached by leftist community organizers.

One way to stop this travesty of EOs that will surely be upon us within 1 to 2 months, is to find at least one governor who will seek a federal injunction against Obama’s lawless EOs and who asks the court that enforcement of the federal order be transferred to State LEOs who will arrest and detain any federal official or officer or anyone acting in their capacity should they attempt to violate the federal injunction.

Texas Governor Perry would be an ideal governor to initiate a federal restraining order. But I think it was Arizona that threatened to arrest federal officers for violating a state law.

But this would be a ***federal order*** and Obama would have to respond through the federal judiciary which is an equal branch of government. It would allow states to challenge the legality of the EOs that Obama signs while they are put on hold.

It would also be a preliminary order like a temporary restraining order where the court does not need to plow through a full hearing before issuing the order. They could issue the temporary order and then allow Obama’s lawyers to come in and try and have it lifted. The court would have control of the docket schedule and could run out the clock on Obama.

So in the sense that it would be a temporary order lasting perhaps 1 to 2 years, it would be unlike Boehner’s lawsuit against the President which appears to have come off the rails recently.

CAMPAIGN FOR 2016: Registered Independents made up 24% of voters in 2012 but now make up 42%! Yes you heard that right. Do an internet search and you will see it is correct that a huge number of former republicans and democrats have left their parties and registered as Independents.

Why isn’t this in the news? Because news people don’t know how to do their quick and dirty Soap Opera like newscasts when there is no figurehead, no leader of the Independents.

But Cruz will take 2/3’s of Independents in 2016, why? Because he stands up to both the democrats and the GOP Establishment just as Ronald Reagan did.

With 2/3’s of 42% (28%), all of the Conservative Base (26%), all of the Perot Demographic (6 million + strong; 5%), at least half of the Latino vote (4%) and more, Cruz wins in 2016 by at least 63%, a historic landslide blowout and likely more as democrats become increasingly demoralized and stay home (about 8% to 10%).

Half of the Latinos will vote for Rafael Edward Cruz over Hillary Clinton because Latinos are cultural voters, not ideological voters. They are pro-Latino first. Even if a SEIU union boss tells Latinos to vote Hillary, they will pull the lever for Cruz when in the voting booth because they identify and are proud that a Latino President will be in the White House. That’s just the way they are.

So this is an adult decision. We can have our cake now and grow fat or we can have steak later and grow strong.

Each of us should be informed and aware enough of now not to get caught up in the puke-like cheerleading of the GOP Establishment.

Dammit again! Read #32!

Wake up!

If so much as one ‘word’ gets passed by the House and sent to the Senate, that one word bill will be gutted and inserted with the Senate’s full Amnesty scheme.

Then it goes to conference committee who will vote to pass it and then out to the full House membership who pass it with all the dems voting aye along with 17 ‘squish’ GOP progressives.

The only way to stop the full immigration amnesty assault is to NEVER bring an immigration bill to the floor for a House vote and that is Boehner’s call.

We do however need immigration reform but not with the cast of Bolsheviks we have in Congress now but only when THE HOUSE, THE SENATE AND THE WHITE HOUSE ARE CONTROLLED BY PATRIOT CONSERVATIVES!!!

So table the whole goddam immigration crap until we have the upper hand on it!

This is the umpteenth time this has been discussed and concluded on FR!

NOT ONE WORD! NOT ONE FRICKIN’ WORD! UNDERSTAND NOW?

We need immigration reform to enforce the laws on our books.  Reagan didn't just pass amnesty.  He signed legislation that would have prevented what took place, if it had been enforced.

We can and should still do it.  Like yesterday!!!!

Ping to the troops

I wish ‘we’ were. But aside from a handfull of us, a disgustingly large number of the right wing’s supposedly most conservative website are flaming cheshires whose conservatism appears and disappears in a fit of situational ethics. that being a documented fact, what are the odds that ‘regular’ conservatives will hold the line?

Don’t get me wrong. I like your ideas. they are good. The problem is that most people are sheep that need to be led. And we of the genuinely conservative persuasion can’t lead anything as long as our house is in disorder. We have to get our shit collectively together. THEN we can move from a position of strength and accomplish something.

That said, there is another way to end the Obola problem. Barry is mentally unfit for office. That is obvious. We might want to consider that constitutional route. Because it will destroy his entire support structure in the GOP and the Dems in the process saving us all a lot of work and saving America from more GOP stalling.

We need one man/woman willing to push that issue without ceasing. And that person has to be a conservative without fear in a position of political power. If Cruz or Palin won’t do it, then we need someone who will.

To be honest I do not know why neither have pushed it.

In that case, we’re better off if the Dems keep the majority in the Senate...At least that’ll keep the amnesty debate in limbo...
