>That was a class act.<
Definitely. I’m pleased that FS1 focused on him when he did that. There was a lot of post-game positive talk about it on the Giants radio station too. The highest praise from within the organization about a former member: “He was a good Giant.”
Yep! On KTVU (Fox 2) from 1987-88. I remember him well. Really like him.
In in for the KC win... but I think it’ll go 7 games.
Waaaaaay back in 1980, the Phillies beat KC in the World Series. That was a hell of a win for Philly; great parade!!! One big party, lasted a couple days.
The whole city seemed to have turned out. I was 19 going on 20 that year, and it was an amazing time.
Reagan got elected too...
Two great teams. This will be fun.
Finally, the World Series is at hand. 5 days, felt like a long time.
His fellow players voted White Sox 1B Jose Abreu as Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year, he got 149 votes, all others got 11, including fellow Sox Marcus Semien (1).
The only surprise for me was that it wasn’t unanimous.
Way too long...
I wonder if he voted for Marcus Seiman. Nancy Pelosi would have voted for herself.
Hopefully he wins the “real” award just as easily, it’s hard to imagine he won’t.
Amen! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you guys read the article that Jose wants to learn English better and take over the role of Captain? I know Robin has said that he didn’t want a Captain in 2015, but I think Abreu is the guy to do it. He is the future and I believe it was fitting that he hit that monster home run on Paulie night.
I met Jose at Picnic in the Park and he is a great guy, his parents were with him and is a class act. I am really looking forward to the team as long as they send everyone in the bullpen packing. Micah Johnson will be a beast at second.
That’s nice to hear about - a star athlete that’s not a d**k.
Go Royals!
Bumgarner could come out now in the 4th and then, in theory, start game 3 and game 7.
Instead, he is his own “middle reliever” and will be back in game 5 and in the bullpen for game 7.
It is the road not taken, and would have been radical.
RE Bumgarner:
Holy crap, he was a pitching machine...
KC got clobbered.
Ye. Yost keeps leading with Shield, but he hasn’t done anything this postseason.
Bumgarner was “Pitching Clinic 101”.
Still... 7 runs is not an insurmountable lead - if you are hitting.
I did not expect KC to lose Game 1... but there’s still 6 more to go.
Nice Jake Peavy article:
I’d glad he rebounded after the first half of this season in BOS.
“It is the road not taken, and would have been radical.”
Yeah, I wouldn’t have driven down that road Pete. Would you have?
KC needs to beat my man Peave tonight.
The game 1 winner has taken the last 4 World Series, Yankees in 2009 lost game 1, and the last 6 before that.
Worth noting that the ‘85 Royals lost the first 2 at home to St. Louis, they won in 7, perhaps thanks to umpire Don Denkinger’s famous blown call in game 6.
