A Liberian Ebola patient was left in an open area of a Dallas emergency room for hours, and the nurses treating him worked for days without proper protective gear and faced constantly changing protocols, according to a statement released late Tuesday by the largest U.S. nurses' union.
Nurses were forced to use medical tape to secure openings in their flimsy garments, worried that their necks and heads were exposed as they cared for a patient with explosive diarrhea and projectile vomiting, said Deborah Burger of National Nurses United. SNIP----
The nurses alleged that: -Duncan was kept in a non-isolated area of the emergency department for several hours, potentially exposing up to seven other patients to Ebola.
-Patients who may have been exposed to Duncan were kept in isolation only for a day before being moved to areas where there were other patients.
-Nurses treating Duncan were also caring for other patients in the hospital.
-Preparation for Ebola at the hospital amounted to little more than an optional seminar for staff.
-In the face of constantly shifting guidelines, nurses were allowed to follow whichever ones they chose.

Bingo.
This is going to expose just how fragile the point of care HC system is in the US.
Why is it where it’s at?
A: Illegal immigration. Period. Full stop. I’m seeing the strain it puts on the public school system here in W. WA, and we are 60 miles from Canada. You can’t get much further away from the southern border, and its killing schools.
I can’t IMAGINE what it is doing to hospitals.
That was originally my post on a related thread a few minutes ago. Those pictures were from the Dallas Morning News, not from healthcare workers. Reporters were all over the hospital and clinic that day. Moning has since given interviews.
Heck, they shouldn’t allow people with cameras(especially media) in patient care areas. Then again, WHO DOESN’T have a camera now days. lol Of course, with this being a national issue that could potentially affect us ALL, I know privacy will be difficult to maintain. Especially since the patient is communicating with the media. That sort of implies they’ve waived any pretense of privacy.
I work in a hospital(for now), so I’m sort of hypersensitive to those sorts of issues I guess.

This past weekend I attended a football game at the New Levi Stadium/home of the 49ers. Hidden among the ton of written no nos of what you could bring in a clear plastic bag of a certain size, was supposedly no cameras. (I never saw it).
Of course 98% of the fans had smart phones including one of our relatives and her friend with new I phone 6’s. They and the other fans with smart phones were taking pictures and videos during the time they got there to when they left.
“so how did she get to Cleveland ???”
Good question, Nana.
Yea, but insurance is a fraction of the structure. It’s the lack of price transparency, like the scorpion antivenom that costs $60,000 here, is $100 in Mexico, and it’s a felony if you bring it over the border.
The FDA. Totally different deal. Completely corrupt. Full stop.
Insurance isn’t the issue - litigation is the issue. It’s a huge, huge part of the cost.
According to additional news, she flew on the Frontier flight 1142 to Cleveland from Dallas on October 10th.
Yeah. I went to a concert a couple years ago that had a “no cameras” policy. Before it started, there were a few people taking pictures near us, and the patrolling security guys made them put their phones away.
When the show started, and the lights went down, you could see the entire place light up with the lights from the screens of smartphones. I saw those same security guys that were getting after people earlier, and I literally read the lips of one of them. He said “screw it”, and they both just stood there and didn’t do a thing. lol

JOHANNESBURG (AP) International aid organization Doctors Without Borders said that 16 of its staff members have been infected with Ebola and nine of them have died.
Speaking at a press conference in Johannesburg Tuesday, the head of Doctors Without Borders in South Africa Sharon Ekambaram said medical workers have received inadequate assistance from the international community.
“Where is WHO Africa? Where is the African Union?” said Ekambaram who worked in Sierra Leone from August to September. “We’ve all heard their promises in the media but have seen very little on the ground.”
Four of the organization’s medical workers who had just returned from Sierra Leone and Liberia said they were frustrated, “chasing after the curve of the outbreak,” according to Jens Pederson, the aid organization’s humanitarian affairs adviser.

Thanks, and why aren’t those passengers being queried about their health status?
All the nurses were not following their retroactive protocols...
It is all the nurses fault...

Not sure, but the news release cited here on FR shows they're more concerned over the return flight, as she may have been symptomatic there, they did include the flight number to Cleveland in that same release for those who maybe be concerned. The bigger concern, what did she do, where did she go while in Cleveland? Attend the Browns/Steelers game?
“Cleveland to Dallas.. so how did she get to Cleveland ???”
I think she flew as well, just a pesky fact that will be revealed later. I would ask why did she go to Cleveland? Was it an last minute unplanned trip to visit Family? If so why? Maybe she went to say some possible goodbyes?

Absolutely incredible.
Meanwhile the hospital’s administration are playing PR games with the local politicians and salivating about their forthcoming bonuses while telling the HR department to hire replacement caregivers.
I believe that is exactly what this Liberian man did—intentionally fly to the United States with the intent of infecting as many people as he possibly could. A walking, talking biological bomb.
We need to quit calling it the Ebola epidemic or the HN whatever the hell it is killing kids all over America, and start calling with EVERY thread, political speech and news article The Democrats Biological Warfare on America. Please help.
You're mentally ill.
They are admitting now she flew to Cleveland and back...
why no concern about the passengers on that first plane to Cleveland ???
don’t tell me its not in the water or the air..
I don’t plan to stake my life or the lives of my family on that...
