"Life as you know it on Earth ends" if climate change skeptics are wrong, Sec. of State John Kerry declared Thursday. But, even if climate alarmists are wrong, nothing bad can come of enacting their taxes, restrictions and regulations, Kerry said in a speech at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center:
"I'd just say to all of you here that people need to feel the pressure from you. You all know what politics is about. I'm not in it now, but I'm dependent on it to help make the right decisions so that we move in the right direction. A clean energy future is not a fantasy. Changing course and avoiding the worst impacts of climate change is not a fantasy. And supporting healthier communities and ecosystems and driving economic growth and job creation - none of that is a fantasy.
"And for those people who still stand in the way, for those people who even still today want to try to question whether or not their science is effective or not, I'd just ask you - ask a simple question: If we're wrong about this future, what's the worst that could happen to us for making these choices?
"The worst that could happen to us is we create a whole lot of new jobs, we kick our economies into gear, we have healthier people, healthier children because we have cleaner air, we live up to our environmental responsibility, we become truly energy independent, and our security is stronger and greater and sustainable as a result. That's the worst that happens to us."

They haven’t a clue about AGW. Every prophecy is wrong by multiples - every threat they have made to date has been denied. Show us the billions of dead humans that you promised! Show us the trillions of dead fish that you promised! Show us the useless cropland and the dead cattle like you promised! Stop crying wolf and get out there and dig up some dead bodies or just STFU!

The worst that could happen to us is we lose a whole lot of jobs, we kick our economies into the ditch, we have sicker people, sicker children because we have a crippled economy. That's the worst that happens to us.
The worst that could happen, if we cut back our energy production to 19th century levels is that our economic production would revert to 19th century levels, and the 4-5 billion people whose lives depend upon that increased productivity would simply starve to death.

Unfortunately, the Cousteau Oceanographic Museum is now also world-famous as the alleged (see below) originator of one of greatest environmental disasters of modern times: Caulerpa taxifolia. If you go swimming in the Larvotto you may notice patches of bright green seaweed on the sea floor.
This seaweed, Caulerpa taxifolia, is not native to the Mediterranean. If what you read on the internet is to be believed, it is alleged to be a genetically-modified strain of a tropical seaweed developed by the curator of Wilhelmina Zoo in Stuttgart in the 1980s. However, we have no way of checking this information. It's said it is inedible or toxic to Mediterranean fish but was quickly adopted by aquariums around the world because it is brightly coloured and difficult to kill…
In 1984, a diver allegedly noticed a one-square-metre patch of the distinctive tropical algae under the windows of the Monaco Oceanographic Museum, which was then under the stewardship of le Capitaine Cousteau himself. Five years later it was allegedly noted in a survey that the weed had spread to cover one hectare.
Yes, you've guessed it. The allegation - which French courts have ruled unfounded on three occasions - was that the Oceanographic Museum, in a not terribly ecologically friendly procedure, used to clean out its tanks straight into the sea below. This would have been slightly ironic since Captain Cousteau, bless him, built a whole career out of documenting ecological disasters around the world. The alleged taxifolia contained in the Museum's effluent would have had no problem adapting to the Mediterranean waters it would now have found itself in. Whatever the origin, it allegedly spread rapidly and prolifically eliminating all other seaweeds in its path and with them the ecosystems they contained.
Now twenty years have passed and "the killer weed" has colonised coastlines as far west as Spain and as far east as Greece. And nobody can stop it. It has now even been spotted in Californian waters, quite possibly spread in the bilge water and anchor chains of the megayachts that frequent the Mediterranean.
Soon the illegals from North Africa will be able to walk to Europe on the massed seaweed.
