I am reminded of the Taos Revolt of 1847, during the Mexican-American War. Because of the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, the US was taking over New Mexico. The Spanish-Mexican landholders in the area did not like this, so told the Pueblo Indians that the Americans were going to enslave them.

The US Army unit at Taos was out of the area, but their popular commander and several other prominent men were still there, and the Indians murdered them. They continued to make trouble and kill more people until the Army sent in a large force.

And this is where it reminds me of the al-Asqa mosque.

The Indian rebels holed up inside the large, thick adobe walled mission church in Taos. No problem, said the US Army, which punched holes in its thick walls, and pushed through lit mortar rounds.

Imagine the Israeli Army doing the same thing.
