Or maybe since they knew he had it, they took precautions. Or perhaps they've all caught it and it's not being reported. Have they been heard from lately?
It would be hard to keep victims of ebola secret unless they themselves don't present themselves for treatment.
The pregnant lady in Liberia he had extensive contact with was said to have malaria. Only near the end or after her death did they say it was ebola. The way I read the article in the LAT which was the most extensive I've seen, nobody WANTED to believe she had ebola.
If it is as you say, that is a huge leg up toward keeping more of it out of the US.
I wasn’t clear—that’s my recommendation. It is NOT what is happening.
That makes more sense. Thanks for the clarification.
Wait until we have 4,000 troops comming home from West Africa, some with Ebola , some pre-symptomatic , and
then it dawns on the CDC that there are only 19 CDC beds designed to handle Ebola (4,000 / 19 beds -How's that work out for you ?)
Yes hospitals can improvise, but you cant improvise negative room pressure with HEPA filters to prevent spreading the disease in a hospital.
Health Care Workers (HCW) will strike for increased comphensation , better medical equipment, less stress with shorter hours , etc.
QUESTION : Not yet addressed is the fact that it is estimated that each EBOLA patient costs $500,000.oo to the hospital.
That would bankrupt OBAMACARE , the Nation , or the individual patient. Where is the money going to come from ? .. if even 1500 troops come home symptomatic ?
United Airlines still has flights from Nigeria to Houston, TX. Delta still has flights from Nigeria to Atlanta, GA. I’ve read that Nigeria has ebola “under control” (no new cases in over 21 days) but someone from Liberia or SL can go to Lagos, Nigeria and catch a flight to the US. Last week I had an ongoing email discourse with a Delta rep about this, their bottom line is “they are following CDC recommendations which allow for continued flights”.
Hey SJ,
I posted this elsewhere . What do you think?
This quote from CDC Director Tom Frieden shout a shouted far and wide.
It proved he is trying to create a narrative where one does not exist, to deflect accountability:
Frieden said on CBS. I think the fact that we dont know of a breach in protocol is concerning because clearly there was a breach in protocol.”
He is giving the lapdog press to run with the “breach of protocol” narrative, which they have eagerly done.
I don't have a good feeling about the outcome of this. So the flu kills 36,000. That's pretty bad. Mostly elderly (like me) and people with compromised immune systems. This ebola stuff can take down seemingly healthy people.
That first medicine they ran out of is made from genetically engineered tobacco. It has a human genome in it. So I read. I think that's credible. Some things I read aren't and even if they are, don't want to be fearmongering.
He is awesome and right on. In healthcare we know this is a disaster waiting to happen.
People lived in concentration camps in World War II - sometimes for months before they were gassed or starved to death. If that situation didn't cause 'panic' I doubt discovering ebola could kill millions of Americans would either.
If we knew maybe we could insist the CDC STOP risking our lives by allowing Africans from hot zones to come to the United States.
Thanks for the ping!
Can this guy be in charge please? Don’t bring them into the hospitals. That seems counterintuitive but it makes so much sense. Do triage in an isolated location.
And stop them flying. Please. They’re flying right out of the hottest areas.
A woman told her story in Sunday’s Times. A TSA screener touched her neck. She went into a restroom to clean the spot with bleach. How many others would do this?
Youre Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
Great piece. Connecticut is on the ball.
If he said what he said about Ebola, he actually believes it, mistaken or not.
