If you were wondering why incumbent Republican Renee Ellmers decided to debate Democrat challenger Clay Aiken, this news might give you a hint. The Civitas survey was conducted Sept. 26-28 among 400 registered voters. It had a margin of error of +-5 percent.
Ellmers’s favorable / unfavorable rating was at 25/28 while Aiken’s sat at 25/35. Forty-seven percent of the registered voters said they were either neutral, or had no opinion, on the two-term congresswoman.

Ellmers is one of the handful of Republican Congressional candidates I want to see defeated. I donated to her when she initially won her district as a “Tea Party” candidate but she has been a major league disappointment. Her biggest failure is that she has turned into an advocate of amnesty. She needs to be removed from the Republican House caucus to keep the Amnesty supporters from having the numbers to enable Boehner to allow Amnesty to be enacted.
Her loss (and the loss of several other Republican Amnesty supporters) will be more than offset by new constitutional conservative Republicans who will be newly elected to Congress this year.
