Carlos III Hospital in Madrid, the health center where Ebola victim Teresa Romero is being treated, is having to draft in extra staff given that nurses are refusing to work with cases or suspected cases of the virus.
A number of other patients are being monitored in the hospital after having come into contact with Romero, although none so far has been confirmed as having contracted the virus.
There are members of staff who are canceling their contracts so that they dont have to enter [rooms with Ebola cases], explains Elvira González, provincial vice-secretary of the SAE nurses union.
González explained that a number of nurses and technicians have formally resigned from their posts at the regional health department, while others have refused to treat patients under current conditions.

Even Ray Charles saw it coming.
I don’t blame the staff. I would quit too. If ebola takes off, IMO, it’s going to kill a lot of medical staff despite precautions. Mistakes happen, especially with tired and overwhelmed staff.
...”You knew this one was coming eventually”...
Yes, this is going to happen..Nurses and doctors want to survive, too. It is up to governments to close borders and to stop flights from going in to and out of the hot zones. Ebola should not be considered an “equal opportunity” virus. Political correctness needs to go if we are to survive physically and in many other ways in this nation. This may sound harsh but this country does not have the healthcare or financial resources to take this virus on for the world. As soon as we have a few more cases here, everything could shut down because people will be panicked. In my lifetime, America has not faced as many crisis all at once as we are facing now and it can be laid squarely at the feet of our government and the media, both Democrat and Republican. They all wanted to be invited to the D.C. parties and to be in with the “Swells.” This is the consequence of not having statesmen and women at the helm. Perhaps God has not been happy with the hedonistic trends which have flooded us from the 60s on and just decided to let the consequences roll. Disease has changed the course of history before and just might do it again. It is past time for prayer.
A beauty.
The politicians who want to be politically correct are not on the front lines handling these people. Ultimately this decision will be made by health care workers, people who clean airplanes, mortuary workers, etc.
Ping.
“TYLER (Durden)
Remember this. The people you’re after are everyone you depend on. We’re the people who do your laundry and cook your food and serve your dinner. We guard you while you sleep. We drive the ambulances. We process your insurance claims. We control every part of your life. So don’t f*ck with us.”
Fight Club
They are an embarrassment to their profession.
Spain’s medical establishment is sure not looking good so far.
Socialism has a way of doing that to a country.
My family members in health care will not allow themselves to be sacrificial lambs for political correctness
Then go get your happy but to Spain or with the military in Liberia and show us how to do it
I have already done the military two different times, but sure, I would go again if I could.
You really think the Spanish nurses and our military should be running away in terror?
Lol.
“Spains medical establishment is sure not looking good so far.”
Nationalized, single-payer healthcare in Spain.
Cannot IMAGINE why it is breaking down, can you? Isn’t that the Liberal Holy Grail?
The so called war against ebola seems more like an effort to liberate it from its confinement within Africa.
“They are an embarrassment to their profession.”
And very smart. I would choose life over death as well. In this case, they fear that their profession will cause their untimely deaths. I can’t blame them.
“Nationalized, single-payer healthcare in Spain.”
Even in non-socialized healthcare countries, being forced to treat Ebola patients would be wrong.
