How could the other folks get stuck in there for days without problems and then these two officers go in and maybe get sick?

I agree seems strange. These officers either don’t have ebola, the family is just having a very long incubation period, the officers got very very unlucky, or the family asked the officers to bag all the soiled linen for them.
