you have to remember she’s speaking to an exclusive crowd & it ain’t nobody we know now even in the generic sense of the word.
I think she’ trying to crystallize her legacy as a “Mama Obama” (just look at that disastrous school program).
For her as an African-American becoming “Mama Obama” will fix her public persona in the years to come and sadly sociological interpretation will cement her image even if you got lousy lunch.
Black people and African Americans will put her pic on the wall along with her husband, set up an altar and start firing up some candles after these two boys leave office.
My black co-workers long ago took down their pictures of Obama, and instead lament the days when they went on cruises and bought new cars (during their brief venture into the middle class under Bush II). They can’t trash-talk him in front of whites (it would be a breach of black solidarity), but they are disgusted with him.
