That sucks. They used to always put on a good show.

I find it sadly ironic that he passed at the age of 76. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP8G4clUJBY

Paul Revere and the Raiders used to be my favorite band, back around 1965. They were regulars on “Where the Action is” and used to play for dances at our hometown roller rink. Their version of “Louie, Louie” is a good one.

Paul Revere - 76. What are the chances of that happening?

A bit too obscure and before my time. I’ve heard of Paul Revere & the Raiders, though, if not any of their songs.

Me and sis went to see them at the Hippodrome Theater in Cleveland.
I actually had one of those three cornered hats they wore.
Oh my.

Back when I was about 16 a friend’s father was a big wheel at Capital Records. They were going to have a benefit raffle, raffling off a pair of Paul Revere’s boots. The raffle never happened, so my friend ended up with the boots. We passed them around the band (he was our lead singer). Each of us got to wear them for a week. It was incredibly cool!
His father was Zim Zimmerel (sp?), a big band leader back in the day in Baltimore. His son, Jamie, was our singer. He is still performing today, singing with the big band.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Revere.

Known for their Revolutionary War-style attire – like something the real Paul Revere or the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band would wear – and their memorable organ riffs, Paul Revere and the Raiders got their start in 1963 with a cover of Richard Berry's “Louie, Louie,” which they recorded the same year as the Kingsmen, who had much more success with the single. However, Revere and his Raiders scored four Top Ten singles in the Sixties with “Kicks,” “Hungry,” “Good Thing” and “Him or Me, What's It Gonna Be.” Their biggest triumph came in 1971 with “Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian.” A cover of a John D. Loudermilk-penned track, the Raiders’ rendition became an unlikely smash, hitting Number One on the Billboard chart in July 1971 and selling over a million copies.

I remember them. American Bandstand?

First concert I ever went to was Paul Revere and the Raiders.

=======================>

Two of my best friends and I washed cars to make money for tickets.

It was a memorable show and a memorable car wash since I fell off the roof on one car! I didn't care - I needed that money for that show!

RIP.

‘Let Me’ was another one of their hits.

Paul was also friends with the late deejay Larry “Superjock” Lujack. They went to high school together in Idaho. Lujack wrote about it in his book, also entitled ‘Superjock’.

I saw Paul Revere and the band in Lake Tahoe lounge shows back in the 1980s and 1990s. The shows were a good mix of music and comedy.

I was visiting my cousins in Montgomery, Ala back in about 1968 and we got tickets to see Paul Revere & The Raiders.
Now the opening act was just as good, it was Pigmeat Markham who was doing his comedy act of his only hit single ever, “Here Comes the Judge”. He was on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and it was a signature joke.
So now who remembers Pigmeat Markham???????????

Thanks rk.....This was a fun band with very good songs.

They were constantly on the local AM radio. Their music brings back memories of those days and friends I was with.

Peter Noone (Herman’s Hermits) is 66. We are starting to lose our own, and we shall soon follow.
