The only people who say Nigeria doesn’t have a problem, btw, are the Nigerian government. To my knowledge, this has not been certified by anybody from the outside.
Sealing off the affected areas may have slowed it down and diminished it, but now they are probably simply not reporting new cases.
I completely agree. Nigeria is probably the second-best sub-Saharan government, behind Uganda, and I think they are simply covering it up.
Didn’t the CDC just say yesterday that Nigeria was Ebola-free?

I was pondering your Nigeria theory a week ago. It’s easy to cover up 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 54 cases. But once it doubles enough, then it is impossible to cover up, as it leaks out the borders in cases like this.
Either that, or this is wave one of ISIS.
I know you were being sarcastic, but in reality the people who will pick up the tab are the first responders, the EMS (many across the country are volunteer), the firemen, the police, the ER personnel who will be caught flatfooted without PPE by a patient presenting symptoms, even the people sent to pressure-wash the sidewalk and those walking by breathing the droplets...many, with their lives.
This isn't malfeasance, misfeasance, or malpractice, it is criminal negligence and murder 1, just waiting for the name of the victims.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

Most people in third world countries have money saved. It is a necessity. No money, you don't get into a hospital, for example. You sit in the waiting room and die.
