Perhaps she didn’t because she has no legal standing to do so and knows it...as does her attorney.
If this mother was concerned only about money, she would’ve had a better chance in court. Her 13yo daughter was not terminally ill. This was not a life-or-death situation. She had surgery for sleep apnea.
So, it seems more likely that this mother just loves her daughter very dearly and is racked with guilt because she did what any parent would do - that is, she told her young daughter that there was nothing to fear and everything would be OK after surgery.
