The Texas Ebola victim’s family is quarantined under armed guard tonight.
This was after family members would not comply with a request to not leave their apartment.

ABC reported:
Four members of a family the U.S. Ebola patient was staying with were confined to their Texas home under armed guard Thursday as the circle of people possibly exposed to the virus widened, while Liberian authorities said they would prosecute the man for allegedly lying on an airport questionnaire.
The unusual confinement order was imposed after the family failed to comply with a request not to leave their apartment, according to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.
Texas State Health Commissioner David Lakey said the order would help ensure the four can be closely watched, including checking them for fevers over the next three weeks.
“We didn’t have the confidence we would have been able to monitor them the way that we needed to,” he said.
The family will not be allowed to receive visitors, officials said.
Authorities were also concerned about the cleanliness of the home and hired a cleaning service, Lakey said.
I was fortunate. The wives and kids of the guys in charge were locked in there with us! lol!
NO! I think CDC should quarantine them properly!
Nobody is stopping you from delivering them sandwiches.
The CDCs idea was to tell them to lock themselves in with the stuff for a month, and trust they would do so on their own initiative.
The incompetence is staggering.

“NO! I think CDC should quarantine them properly!”
Hear, hear.
Nigeria handled this better than we are.
That was a really ignorant thing to say.
Yet, they can’t find a qualified hazmat team to do so.
I so agree with you.
These people obviously have zero idea of how to handle anything outside of our norm.
It is frightening at best.
Can’t secure the border. Can’t secure the airports. Can’t secure one little second floor apartment. Time to throw in the towel and call it quits.
We’ve still got the ability to secure ourselves (to a point).
*sigh* what a freaking mess.
Yikes, Louise works. Who knew? Where is her daughter and why isn’t she being quarantined? It’s worse than pulling teeth to get anything out of the authorities.
I’m sure that once you contract the Ebola virus you won’t have mixed feelings again. There’s a world of difference between a sneeze and the Ebola virus. I understand your what you’re trying to say, but quarantine is justified in this particular case.
I'd burn the apartment and the son of a bitch that brought it here to the ground.....you have another option.
>>>Its not only lawful but common sense
I’m not sure the issue is of quarantine so much as quarantine in the same apt. that is riddled with virus. I’m not sure that is too bright.
Whaaa, who wants to be locked up?!? Excuse me, you moron. I wouldn’t have had time to worry about being locked up. I wouldn’t have waited for the CDC. I’d have had the clorox out dowsing the walls and everything. The grown adult nephews would be dealing with the ceiling. Those sheets and pillows would have been ripped off the bed and everything would have been in a hefty bag along with the mattress and boxsprings waiting for the CDC on the patio. Those nephews would also have ripped out the carpet and a big sign with EBOLA taped to it all. If the CDC didn’t pick it up within the hour, WFAA (tv news), the Dallas Morning News (newspaper) and the mayor would have recieved a call. No, scratch all that because I’d never knowingly have invited anyone who has been within a 1000 miles of Africa into my house.

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Could those guys spraying the vomit off the sidewalk be the cleaning crew the CDC hired? If so, we are sooooo DOOMED!
A couple days ago Congress held hearings about the Secret Service failures leading to some twit getting deep into the White House without anything close to permission. The SS head resigned soon after.
We need exactly the same thing with the CDC re: Ebola now.
- You did nothing to scrutinize, if not stop, immigration from hot zones?
- The guy knew exactly what he had, went to the hospital, and he was sent _home_? with _antibiotics_?
- Took his _nephew_ to take the initiative to tell someone “hey, guys, EBOLA!”?
- You delayed releasing this guy’s flight plan & travels, preventing anyone from discerning their risk of exposure?
- Ok, you finally moved him to a hospital using protective gear.
- Is the hospital in question “Level 4” certified? NO?
- He barfed all over the public sidewalk - and you left some random guy with a pressure washer to clean it up? as near-barefoot pedestrians wander by, stepping in contaminated water?
- His bed linens etc are STILL THERE DAYS LATER? IN AN ACTIVELY USED APARTMENT?
- You told the exposed family to self-quarantine, and trusted them to do so with absolutely no monitoring?
- When they violated that self-quarantine, you posted merely an armed guard?
- THEY’RE NOT IN LEVEL 4 ISOLATION WARDS?
- And neither are the other 100+ people suspected of exposure?
Sure, I get that you have to get REALLY close to someone to contract the organ-liquifying disease.
But given that nearly all the above points involve some topological version of “REALLY close”, how is it that the infection scene wasn’t immediately overwhelmed with millions of dollars of HAZMAT gear right down to removing the vomit via confiscating & incinerating a foot of topsoil involved?
This is the ****ing nightmare scenario we’ve long expected the CDC was spending billions of taxpayer’s dollars to tackle HARD the instant that virus appeared anywhere on this _continent_ - and the best we get is “if you think you’ve been exposed, please lock yourself indoors for a month”? WTF?
