Obamacare may hold the key to saving the U.S. from Ebola
Chicago Tribune ^ | October 2, 2014 | By Laurie Garrett, Foreign Policy

Fear of Ebola has been climbing steadily in the United States since Tuesday's announcement that a Liberian traveler in Dallas, Thomas Eric Duncan, was diagnosed with the disease.

America's special vulnerability to Ebola is its limitations on access to health care. In times of contagion, societal risk rises with every uninsured or underinsured individual who struggles to work or go to school with a fever, and avoids bankrupting visits to health providers. One doesn't need to have a political position up or down on "Obamacare" to recognize and solve this.

He’s right.

Why, I remember distinctly that before the advent of Obamacare, America was ravaged by incurable disease, crushing poverty, hopelessness, and short life-expectancy.

But now, under the benevolent and glorious guiding hand of our Beloved Leader, all of those societal ills are a thing of the past. The People can rejoice and give praise to his wise counsel, hallowed be his Name.

Garrett is a certifiable idiot.

Garrett is senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations and a Pulitzer Prize winning science writer.

In other words, an amateur with an opinion and an agenda. No thanks.

What did Bono have to do with an epidemic?

What a freaking MORON!

There will be no payments due by anyone who contracts ebola because there is not enough secure, isolation, medication, and treatment protocols in place across the nation to handle even a small outbreak.

The political elite will be taken to the secure facilities that can treat them effectively and the rest of us will die for lack of adequate treatment. Nobody will be “paid” because the working payers will mostly die off. Obamacare be damned to hell.

The author is a worthless political elite from our National Socialist Democrat Party headquarters in Chicago.

Obama can't even prepare a website to successfully sign people up to the program - as in doctors aren't accepting Obama-insured. The website is chuck full of holes where any opportunistic malware virus can mess it up real good.

And Obamacare will take care of ebola?

Yes. A "special" vulnerability. Because people in Sierra Leone and Liberia have MUCH better access to health care than people in the United States.

Bob Beckel said there was going to be an October Surprise and it involves National Security!!! And an Ebola outbreak is indeed a National Security item....PLUS Obamacare!

Well, can’t have a bankrupting visit to the hospital as medical debt is no longer discharged in bankruptcy. And many can’t afford the high premiums involved in Pelosi/Obama Care plans. Not to mention the much higher copays and decidables.

But let’s pretend that we live in a liberal utopia.. That all these costs are somehow covered. There are a total of 900,000 hospital beds in the US, only 2000 would meet basic isolation standards as defined by the CDC.

If an infected person has contact with 100 people and just 5% develop the disease, those beds, nationwide, fill up very quickly. You’ll have flights to fill up infection wards, including Alaska and Hawaii. But wait, we’ve got troops in the h hotzone for Ebola. Cut out a quarter of those beds right there.

Might be those who catch it early have the best chance of survival before our care system is overwhelmed.

A simple question to Laurie Garrett -

Do you put your own health at the complete ‘mercy’ of some bureaucrats then?

Or do you think you belong to the privileged class and will get special treatment?

Has he figured in the fact that most doctors hate Obamacare and a large majority of them might just bow out and quit instead of seeing possible ebola patients.

I’m just waiting, if Ebola does start to spread in the US, for Obama to come out and say: “If you like your mortician, you can keep your mortician, period”.
