SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Gov. Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed the nation's first statewide ban on single-use plastic bags at grocery and convenience stores, driven to action by pollution in streets and waterways.
A national coalition of plastic bag manufacturers immediately said it would seek a voter referendum to repeal the law, which is scheduled to take effect in July 2015.

[I love puffing up a paper bag then popping it.]
Beware of putting your lips on that paper bag. It contains Formaldehyde. Where are the eco-experts on this?
Ha! I would love to..bring them in to piss them off!
& the welfare slubs get the tree-killing paper bags for free. Insane libs.
The bags are not banned. You have to pay for them. This is a tax.
California, where plastic bag will have a thriving black market and pot is sold on the street.
If I lived there, I’d fill my cart at the grocery store. Tell the checker I don’t have my own bags and don’t want to buy one of theirs. Then when the “bagger” asks me if I need help out to my car I’ll say, “Yes” and let him load everything by hand, piece by piece into my car.
Wicker baskets anyone?
Staples has them...sadly about 5 cents each:

But better than giving 10 cents to Lib-Nazis and their retail cronies. Seems like it would be a great attention getter to hand out these bags in the 2 weeks before the election emblazoned with, “VOTE THE NANNY STATE OUT NOW!”
one of the first? tons more dog poop not picked up.
Plastic bags are an effective was to keep food clean and limit the spread of ebola, chicungunya and illegal flu.
Ditto !!!!!!!!!!!!!
.
As a Californian please note that we are in the hands of corrupt politicians placed in office by invaders from South of the border.
Yeah, right, ten cents for a paper bag... Until it goes to a dollar, totally unrelated to any economic reality. I hate liberals.
Just wait until Jerry and the Brownies discover the problems with toilet paper. What a mess that will be.
I didn’t see any in Hawaii. I don’t know about a ban there but I didn’t see any.
“the problems with toilet paper...”
Learn to use the three seashells
“Leave the brown for Brown.”
So if I am ever traveling through California (doubtful) and my big dog does his duties, I’ll simply leave it for Brown.
Watch your step down there......
Bookmarking bags.
That’s what I was going to post! Well - the Ebola part anyway.
And you can't get paper bags at Target either. Ridiculous.
