The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday confirmed the first case of Ebola has been diagnosed in the United States.
This story is developing. Please check back for further updates
....”With a sampling of one known patient here, your statement is beyond silly”...
But that is the point...”one”....so it’s not silly.
It has all the look of a dezinformatsiya campaign to put the AIDS whitewash to shame.

I’ll go with over-informed. Am not recommending panic. We have a two week period then we have a six week period and then reevaluate. We are too early into knowing how this is going to go. The public is going to need information and am doubtful the information is going to be forthcoming. Just don’t know how this will be handled at the higher levels. I suspect not well if the next six weeks does not go well. Well, can say mission accomplished by those pursuing cover ups.
I’ll assume those figures are from the outbreak in Africa?
We’ve had what ‘three cases’ here...two ‘cured’...one currently down with symptoms with the potential to have infected others...we don’t know yet.
I for “one” will wait and see....
“...VERY VERY reluctant to use their existing powers to control communicable diseases.”
We were talking about this with the kids. My wife used the example of the movie “JAWS” where they keep the beaches open. Of course in the movie it is just a single shark that once killed, everything is back to normal.
I fear that there will be no “normal” for awhile. And pray that I am wrong.
...”We are too early into knowing how this is going to go.”....
Well that’s just it.....we don’t know.
How the US handles this remains to be seen...but so far they’re certainly preparing in case so that the public is informed.
I hate to have to tell you this ... this is the new normal and the new normal began in the ‘70s. Former President Ronald Reagan was the brief rest-bit. GHWB announced it as the New World Order. I know most do not know what am typing about so no need to elaborate. Besides wouldn’t be believed anyway.
Thanks for the ping!
Your in the wrong place.....that’s simply standard stuff they have to put out there.
Check twitter for other hashtags...’Ebola” ....”Dallas ebola” for another...and ‘centers’ for disease control.
What kills me as a health care provider is that it starts with vague flu-like symptoms. Well, im here to tell you, about half of everyone from now until March or April comes into our clinics with vague flu like symptoms from here on out ... We’re at the beginning of flu season ....how will we differentiate the symptoms?
I can just see us prescribing anti viirals as we always do to all these people with who knows how many will actually not have the flu and really have the beginning presentation of Ebola?
a freaking mess with potential to just turn our entire way of life upside down ....
In my experience here in DFW, our schools are the opposite. They want your kids at school regardless of whether or not they’re sick. If your child misses three days of school within three weeks, you get a letter telling you that the school is required to file charges against you when your child is absent 10 days within a six-month period. Texas has a 90% attendance requirement.
Texas’ handling of this will be a model for the First world, they will be paying close attention as they surely expect some outbreak in their own countries.
CDC grunts are doing all the heavy lifting while their spokesrats refuse us the important vector details the world needs to prepare for ending the infection.
Lord, show us the way to turn back the Horseman of Pestilence!
correct ... the timing is improper/proper for the unspeakable.
am afraid you are correct and am will to bet a dollar to a donut that is not the plan.
Exactly. I’m thinking this man changed planes in ATL or another U.S. airport, and our govt doesn’t want the public to know.
You're posting reason and facts on this thread? What are you, a mad man?
If each sick person infects only two other, and the disease takes 1 month to kill, the math says that in 33 weeks the Earth will be empty of humans (8.5 billion dead by then, more than the current population of the planet.)
I know people are down on the Government about this... in regards to if or not they will tell it like it is....but this nation does hype and over-react on pretty much everything....and certainly very little patience to let things work....not to mention that “everybody” soon becomes a “reliable source”.
We are exactly like “sheep” fearful and startle easily!..... and that because we are ‘accustomed to grazing’ in the fields and enjoying the sun-shine...undisturbed.
“As far as your new scenario, people who think they have a cold or the flu might do what they always do when they think they have a cold or the flu, unless Ebola is in the news a lot, and then I think the typical American will be rushing herself and especially the kids, to the doctor.”
Agreed. But at what point do I take my flu symptoms (or my children’s) as possible Ebola? I’m near Seattle. Do I take them in tomorrow if they show symptoms? Realizing that dozens of flights have arrived from the Dallas area already? Or do I wait until I hear of a case in Seattle? Or Salt Lake City?
And looking at my original post, I was of the mind that the person couldn’t believe that they could possibly have Ebola and that it was the flu. But - if you go to the doctor to get checked out for the flu - they will keep you until the Ebola tests come back.
I have no idea what that procedure is, or how long it takes.
It is interesting that this Dallas patient had been to a funeral in Liberia. Very likely an Ebola victim. And I have heard of the customs that make contamination of the friends and relatives very likely (hugging, kissing the deceased, etc.) Although I have also seen the photos from Liberia of people hauling a body out of a home all wrapped up in sheets and bound, with the workers in protective gear.
I hope that Ebola will not be a big deal in the U.S., and that you are correct that we will get a handle on it much more quickly.
