The first HCW in Dallas that dies will set off an earthquake.

True, but it will also motivate a lot of vigilance among the rest of the health care profession. We are not Africa.

Not paranoid. Maybe a little premature.

I used to live there... right on the edge of Kimberton (Coldstream rd).

Has Phoeniville perked back up at all in recent years?

With is semen? Do you mean ‘serum’?

Don’t you have to eat a bat that’s infected to catch it from them?

Here’s an article from National Geographic. I was trying to find another, more detailed and personal one - but this will do.

“Patient Zero” was in Liberia back in March. Two health care workers that treated him soon after. Then 3 or 4 relatives of them after that. One of them went back to their home 90 miles away. That family became infected. Etc.

Seven months later 6,500 people infected.

You do NOT need to bathe in their blood or urine to catch it. Sweat (fever) or spittle on a seat, rail, door, etc. and then wipe your mouth, nose, rub your eyes can transmit it.

Wash often, keep your hands away from you face. (Take notice of how often you use your hands on your face - it is a lot if you aren’t aware.)

You know Pianka is dancing a jig at UT Austin right now. His dream of wiping out 90% of the world's population with ebola is coming true. However, I doubt the good professor will be driving up to Dallas to hug and kiss Patient Zero's family and friends. Funny how the death squads never seem to put themselves at the front of the line.

Ya mean like Hurricane Katrina motivated all the law enforcement profession when they all bailed out and headed for the tall grass?

Probably DID mean semen. I believe it can last in semen for 7 weeks, 7 months(?) or something. Anyway - a relatively long time, even if the person recovered.

Nuts.
We have decided that money and political correctness trumps public health

They’re now considering importing infected cannibals from the Congo. White House spokesperson said they will be afforded all civil rights and we must be sensitive to the cannibal community’s culture.

Oh good grief.

If the incubation period can vary from 7 - 21 days they really have no reliable indicator of when he became contagious.

And those he infected infects others and those infect others and so on and so on. The cat is out of the bag and the CDC can't put it back in. No way can they ever think it's possible to round up everyone he came in contact with and who those came in contact with, etc.

“Elevator security breach was 2 weeks ago when Obama was visiting the CDC.
an old alert? Strange ...”

Probably happened because most of his “security” detail are Affirmative Action hires.

All that can happen now is health workers go way diligent.

And that will freak out patients visiting them.

Zero and Val are laughing themselves silly with the predicament they put us in.

“...Went to hospital on 24 with symptoms and they sent him home...”

How can that be?! Many on FR say we have the best health care in the world and will be all over this little virus. What - they thought he just had the flu?

I heard obola giving a press conference on this. He said not to worry, this patient only made it into the vestibule of the North Entrance to Dallas when he was stopped.

Ha, maybe they took everyone’s temperature with an oral thermometer and the person in front of him had a fever. /s
