This is the first entry, probably the first of 100’s if not 1000’s. Hopefully we will get good at eradicating it at entry. Time will tell.

What if he sneezed on the plane? Wouldnt that be spreading it? It he were shedding virus at that point, possibly yes, to those fairly close to him (~5 rows).
But this is not an airborne virus that would waft on air currents up and around the entire cabin and through the ventilation system.
What if he had a runny nose and left a tissue in the plane pocket?
Yes, if virus-laden this would, of course, be a real hazard to the clean-up crew. Although they usually wear gloves, a real chance of infection when they removed the gloves or touched a glove to their face.

I remember seeing the “screening” for yellow fever in South Africa earlier this year. a COMPLETE joke. Screening for Ebola in West Africa before a flight?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Please stop spreading misinformation about its lack of infectious ability.
The hyperbolic comments practically linking the spread of Ebola to being as intimate as drinking the patient's blood will only lead to disaster.
Ebola's primary spread is surface contact. It is present in sweat. You get an extremely high fever, enough to cause delirium. You're going to sweat.
Ebola can exist in an infectious ability on a dry surface for several days. This would be everything a sweating patient would be in contact with.
Be realistic about its infectious ability. Its not like the flu, but it is also not like AIDS.

No way to come into contact with the virus and not be infected other than to be decontaminated before it reaches your mucous membranes. No chance of doing that yourself. If you are gloved and suited with a suitable respirator and goggles it is possible, though difficult to self decontaminate. A bucket full of 10% bleach solution for dipping your gloved hands (at least 10 minutes, not a quick swish)is probably the last step after a self-spray down with the same bleach solution from a re-purposed weed sprayer.

The thing that alarms me is that the only way they caught it was with the man’s travel history. What if someone comes in who hasn’t traveled?
I do not believe at all that this is the first case. I think that this is the first one they’ve actually gotten their hands on.

Only when symptomatic are you contagious. Blood from nose, rash, vomit. Read about it. Add the word "very" and that would be correct. But asymptomatic people can transmit as well. E.g. months after recovery in sperm.

So was he sitting in the emergency room??
He was sent home from a medical care when he presented with symptoms on the 26th. He returned on the 28th with worsened symptoms and was admitted.
