The founding fathers for the most part were born in America (except for Hamilton who was born on a Carribean island) and thus were colonized.

The Boston Tea Party was one of the most anti colonialist events in history. The American Revolution was over throwing a colonialist over lord (just read Paine’s Common Sense!)

Again, the concept is just stupid and D’Souza is an imbecile. The fact that he is Anti American while at it just adds to it

What I go from “2016” was that D’Souza considered Obama to have been profoundly influenced by anti-colonial views while growing up and that this influence explains Obama’s tendency to want to diminish the power and influence of the United States. D’Souza’s arguments were well reasoned and compelling.

I dispute the term the use of the term “imbecile” in this discussion, at least with regards to D’Souza.

So you think the United States wasn't a colony, just because the people who made that colony independent were born there?

America is a colony because thousands of Europeans came across from Europe and colonized North America. The colony of America wasn't itself being colonized by the British - it was the colony.

Look up "North American Indians". This will astonish you, but it turns out that there were a fair number of people who inhabited North America before the colonists turned up.

They were colonized. And - just like the Mau Mau, and just like Ghandi, a lot of them resented it.

No. It was a protest against tax.

If it had been the most anti-colonial event in history, then the Bostonians would have given the land back to the Moswetuset, got back in their boats and returned to Europe.
