Rochester police Capt. John Sherwin described the scene officers were called to about 1:40 a.m. Sunday as a "riot." Officers found 40-60 people fighting in the area of Third Street and First Avenue.
When one officer tried making an arrest, his glasses were knocked off and stepped on. When another officer tried making an arrest, four to five people tried grabbing an officer and pulling away.
"The officers do what they have to do, and their safety dictated that they responded in a way where at least a few people had to get away. Just because they got away Sunday morning doesn't mean we're not following up and trying to identify people who may have been involved," said Sherwin.
According to police, no officers were seriously hurt. Tong Bamloungghong, 22, and Tishea Hook, 24, both of Rochester, were arrested. Sherwin said there were only two arrests because officers had to fend for themselves rather than make arrests.

You are naughty.
Seriously, I might not be able to pick off all of them in the yard, but with my wife using the AR (or the AK) and I with the pump shotgun, the fact that we have only two entrance doors (the garage being secure from that sort of intrusion), the bodies can pile up on the doorstep(s).
In a rural town with 12K people (in a gun friendly state), it's not likely that roaming gangs would be primarily a racial division thing. Most of the people, black or white, would be hunkering down.
Also, in that scenario, the thugs would not have the benefit a hamstrung police force limited in their response. I'm thinking we locals would permanently take out the majority of the bad boys. Thugs are cowards usually. If they are not in the superior role, they aren't staying around.
I think that rioters sense that there would be a lot of vigilante action if they did go after 'whitey-town'. Most Americans don't stand around waiting for the govt. to do what's necessary -- they do it themselves.

The name sounds SE Asian - i.e. either Cambodian or Hmong.
Lots of Hmongs in the Twin Cities.
