Tory MP Mark Reckless has said he is leaving his his party to join UKIP, announcing his decision on the eve of the Conservatives' conference.
The Rochester and Strood MP told the UKIP conference he had resigned as an MP, triggering a by-election.....
He is the second Tory MP to defect to UKIP after Clacton MP Douglas Carswell did the same in August.
Mr. Reckless will seek re-election in his constituency for UKIP......
Mr. Reckless said the Conservative leadership was "part of the problem that is holding our country back."
Criticising the three main parties, he said: "People feel ignored, taken for granted, over-taxed, over-regulated, ripped off and lied to."
On immigration, Mr. Reckless said constituents needed to believe that the UK had control over who comes into the country, adding: "At the moment we do not have any sense of that."...............

(Emphasis added.) While I would like to see the two-headed Party face some competition in this country, just a cautionary note that we could wind up with the three-headed variety instead, after a while.
It sounds like the Brits have decided their establishment parties suck too!
Actually, I think we'd end up with a one-headed monster. The democrat party would rule, and two insignificant minor parties would split the dwindling conservative vote.
I say "dwindling" because the Democrat party would make sure their advantage becomes permanent: More illegal aliens would be admitted as citizens, and more folks would become addicted to the public dole.
So either we try to reform the GOP from within, or we push for a law that mandates run-off elections if no one gets a majority of votes. Any other strategy would give the liberals power forever.
We need a USIP.
With two parliamentary by-elections coming in less than two weeks, this kind of rubbish is being dumped on voters in Britain with the Labourites saying a UKIP vote is for the Conservatives and the Conservatives saying a UKIP vote is for Labour.
FEAR IS ALL THE POLITICAL ESTABLISHMENTS OF THIS WORLD HAVE LEFT....
As Farage and UKIP point out, the major parties are all the same.
Using fear to pretend one party is worse than the other is a joke.
I’m hoping such a party will emerge sooner or later.....
Well, looks like the UK just got their first RINO. What’ll they call him when he inevitably starts undermining UKIP, a UNO?
The GOP does not want the conservative vote
Cameron wanted the conservative vote, and now they’re leaving.
The GOP practically flips American conservatives the bird.
So 2016 should be interesting for the GOP. Chinese interesting.
Cameron wanted the conservative vote? He wanted it so bad he moved far to the left in his policies. Howe does that work exactly? How does turning the Torie Party into a copy of the LDP attract conservative votes??
Oh wait he did ‘promise’ a referendum on the EU, which he will likely never deliver.
I respectfully disagree. As bad as Romney was, Obama is 100 times worse. As bad as a McConnell-led senate would be, the senate now lead by Reid is 100 times worse.
That is not to say that Romney and McConnell are good leaders, or that they are good for the country. They are not. But they are not in the same depraved category as Obama and Reid. They just aren't.
There is not a 100 times difference between Obamacare and Romneycare that came before it in Massachusetts........
Very true! And that really is a good argument for a third party. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic, but I just can't see it happening. Too much big money is behind the two established parties.
IMHO, to have a chance at winning, the next Reagan has to be from the GOP, and not from outside of it.
Correct. They expect it.
As the article illustrates, he’s losing supporters.
My point is, he seemed to want the support of his conservative members, but from his actions didn’t earn it. The GOP not only hasn’t earned conservatives’ support, but from their words and actions, don’t want it.
That is, they want money and votes, but then we’re supposed to go back to talk radio, FR and the other places we go—stay there and shut up, except for our quaint rants between elections.
So, like some Tories we’re saying “That’s spinach, and to hell with it.”
Not when you compare their records. They match up perfectly. So he is not worse at all when you look at the record. They are both unfit to serve anything but hamburgers at a prison baseball game.
Since Obama’s pre president was a mirror of Mitt’s it is a safe assumption in light of Mitt’s multiple contridictory positions, his hiring of illegals, getting caught and hiring them again, his gay commentary, his admission post election he did not want the job as per his own son...
No. He would have been as much a disaster. Perhaps in a different direction, perhaps not. But good people do not do the things he did to get elected (trashing anyone in his way resembling a conservative) and govern justly or competently. They govern for their agenda. And we saw that agenda in his record.
Anything beyond that is speculation.
Who in the GOP pays you for saying such crap? ... The GOP/RNC cannot be reformed - they have to be sidestepped... and done away with eventually ... It is not a matter of leaving the GOP they have left Conservatives ... the Core of the Republican Party and spit upon us... In a few years the current GOP will be history and they become more like the Democrat Party of a few years ago ... The GOP will be replaced - not reformed...
From what I understand the UKIP Party is akin to the Tea Party.
The timing of Holder’s resignation indicates that Obama wants to be sure that he has time for a Democratic lame duck Senate to confirm his puppet replacement as Attorney General.
With so much dirty laundry stacked up in the closets of the Justice Department, Obama didnt dare let in an Attorney General who is not a total sycophant.
Were he forced to negotiate with Senate Republicans in order to get confirmation, he might have to accept an honest Attorney General who would clean house and bring all the laundry out in public.
And one that would be an active agent in creating Obamas one party vision.
Were Holder to resign after the Republicans control the confirmation process, the full dimensions of Obamas plan for a one-party nation would be exposed.
