The first detailed look at attendance in Oakland schools shows a deep racial divide between students in class and habitual no-shows, a pattern reflected in grades, test scores and graduation rates.
That big difference between who’s in class and who isn’t helps explain much of the achievement gap between white and Asian students and their African American peers.
Nearly 1 of 5 African American students in Oakland is chronically absent from school, missing at least 10 percent of the 180-day school year. Just 1 in 20 white and Asian students miss that much school.
“It’s a critical issue that seriously affects academic and life outcomes for children across our city,” said Jonathan Klein, executive director of Great Oakland Public Schools, a public education nonprofit that was among the sponsors of the report released Friday.

How will they fix this disparity? By forcing the white and Asian students to stay home on certain days? That’s partly how they’re dealing with the disparity in punishment for blacks students as opposed to other students, by not punishing the black miscreant students while cracking down on the others.
Why do I imagine that SF Gate will find a way to blame this on whites and asians?
The entire purpose of Common Core is equality... making the non-black kids as dumb as the black kids. Maybe the schools could start handing out dope to non-black kids who are unfairly overachieving.

But as long as Blacks refuse to assimilate because they will be accused of being Uncle Tom's, they are condemned to lives of poverty and violence and crime.
Why waste time in school?Hang out with the gang. Kill whitey. Obama and the Just Us department will see to it that we don't get prosecuted and if we do the Muslims will convert us to Islam in prison and turn us out to kill whitey in even more fun ways. Life is a blast if you don't have consequences.
I was hoping the SF Gate would help us understand why more blacks don’t really give a flip about their own children.
Baby mamas and baby daddies don’t really give a flip about their children. If they did, they would try a little harder to give them a good stable two parent home to live in. They’re not honorable people. Gang and thug culture isn’t really a good culture for children.
Of course, this doesn’t apply to all black families, there certainly are some very good ones. And most of them are even more sick of the thug and gang culture than I am.
The solution of course, is for black kids to stay in school. However, that might get some of them beaten for acting white. Better to be ignorant than beaten I always say.

In Arizona right now, the DNC is blaming all of the GOP candidates and the taxpayers for dumbass school kids. The DNC is spending the big bucks here without ever once mentioning that “unaccompanied” illegal alien invaders might be the real cause for “increased class sizes.” It’s the GOP candidates’ and the taxpayers’ fault. I hate communists. They lie all of the time and the low information idiots believe everything they say.
It’s the feral sub-human culture that needs to be eliminated. Until then the absentee problem and the associated violence will remain.
So the usual conclusion is that the school is racist. Right?
If the school and police and PARENTS had cracked down on St. Skittles, he wouldn’t be six feet under and we wouldn’t have to glorify unarmed black thugs on a daily basis. He was truant. He had women’s jewlry, a screw driver and traces of marijuana in his backpack at school but the cops didn’t so much as slap his wrist. The only punishment the school doles out to problem students is the exact “get out of school free card” they wanted in the first place. I used to think throwing the parents in jail for their kids skipping was a dumb idea. Now, not so much. If it takes the parent handcuffing themselves to their child and sitting in class with them every day, then so be it. But no, that’s child abuse! Not to mention 99.9% of the parents were too lazy to get up and take their kid to school before this became the problem that it is. It’s those same lazy parents who can’t be bothered to teach their children not to steal and rough up people like Michael Brown did. It’s those lazy parents who can’t be bothered to beat their kid’s butts in front of the school principal and cops - oooh, but then the cops will arrest the parents. It’s a lose, lose all the way around.
