Contra Ezekiel Emanuel, age is no absolute barometer for human vitality and dignity.
Normally, no one would care that in a recent Atlantic essay Why I Hope to Die at 75 57-year-old Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel argued that living to be 75 years old was long enough for anyone. After 75, Emanuel suggests, We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.
But Emanuel is no garden-variety crackpot. Nor is he a wannabe science-fiction writer dreaming of a centrally planned planet of robust youthful humanoids. Unfortunately, he was one of the chief architects of the troubled Affordable Care Act and a key medical advisor to the Obama administration. (snip)
Most Americans can cite a grandparents wise advice and aggregate experience as changing their lives for the better. I was blessed that three of my grandparents lived well beyond 75 and taught me everything from riding a horse and farming to accepting setbacks with calm and dignity.
In contrast, the greatest tragedy in my life was the far too early death of my mother at 67 at precisely the point when our family most needed her omnipresence, caring, and sage counsel.
Who knows had Dr. Emanuel been asked to help draft an Affordable Care Act in his mid-70s, we might not have had to collectively suffer from his youthful inexperience.

Well heck. Why don’t we just revert to the premise of “Logans Run”? Thirty and out>>>>>>>>>>>
Obamacare doesn’t even have the “fair” death panels of Logan’s Run, where everyone dies at the same young age. Under Obamacare, some animals are more equal than others, and you die when you don’t have the government connections to get essential medical care.
At their core, liberals are suicidal.
He’s pathetic now, why wait till 75?
For me, it would be nice to see 59...
Ol' Georgie is well past his "Sell By" date!
He thinks the common unwashed masses should die at 75. He as a member of the elite will have total health care as long as he wants. Just like Congress will have total health care forever. The rules do not apply to the ruling elite.
I’m just going to start LIVING in my 70s. Unless the Lord says otherwise, I want to be the energizer bunny of longevity. I have to make up for all those wasted years of working! :0D
My dad will be 75 in a few months. This year he has; Painted his house, done plumbing electrical and structural fixes, mowed his lawn weekly, installed a wood heater, chopped two cords of wood, preached weekly sometimes several times a week at different churches, run a weekly Bible study, is getting ready for a three month mission trip to South America.
I would suggest that EE can take his stupid blabbing and shove it.
would he tell George Soros that or any other communist liberal democrat billionaire?
Oh, perfect! Let's listen to crony politicians create and use the most bureaucratically-intensive tax on the planet to fund a free health care system. As you know, to use a VAT, you must determine the value added to a product from one stage to the next and tax it. Something as simple as a loaf of bread, according to Friedman, has 67 steps from field to table. And this bozo wants to hire enough federal workers to administer that tax. Idiots.
After 75, Emanuel suggests, We are no longer remembered as vibrant and engaged but as feeble, ineffectual, even pathetic.
I’ve got two friends who are 80.
One has been the handball champion of the world for bis age group the last 50 years and is in incredible shape.
He had an amazing 80th birthday party last year and the theme was James Bond.
He looked dashing, smart and handsome.
Toward the end of the party be took his shirt off, just to embarrass men half his age.
he is in incredible shape.
oh, and he owns 15+ dealerships and is one of the kindest most generous men I ever met.
my other friend, also 80, kicks my butt at snowboarding and I’m pretty damned good.
He flies through trees and is always in the zone.
I think he does it just to aggravate me.
He owns a high tech company and several other businesses.
I have another friend who is a legend in Silicon Valley. Still skis and will tire out men in their 20’s and 30’s.
I’m sure each of these guys would love to learn they are mere mouth breathers.
Those are just a few guys past Zekes prime and I know several others just like them.
GFY yuh crazy azz murderer. I don’t see any difference between you and other serial killers.
The liberal must truly live a disturbing life. Day after day of nothing but depression and despair. No wonder. Look a Beckel on "The Five" and you see a man that is terminally unhappy, drink and drug addled and unable to smile or laugh in a believable manner. Saaaad!
The Author of Obamacare Brays Yet Again.
Ezekiel Emmanuel should be on TV every day so everyone can see how Bats**t crazy he is.
The more people see of him and connect him with EvilCare the sooner we get rid of him and it.
> How completely depraved and morally bankrupt. These big government socialists think they are god. And, make no mistake, they want to make these same decisions for all of us.
SARAH PALIN WAS RIGHT .... 0bamacare has Death Panels!
I have no doubts that this would save the government’s a huge chunk o change that the ogliarchs could redirect to spend on themselves. It’s a sad day in America when the government bean counters look at people as “units” instead of humans...
Nothing good exists in liberalism/progressivism/socialism/communism. Any “good intention” behind a liberal’s/progressive’s/socialist’s/communist’s agenda (power grab) is the epitome of evil.
Obamacare’s Dr. Mengele, Ezekiel Emanuel, might want the rest of us dead at 75, but I expect he will be celebrating his 76th birthday and more beyond that. Liberals love to control peoples lives, but the restrictions they place on everyone else never seem to apply to them.
You have the right order of things. God is in control. Liberals make themselves gods. Ann Coulter was spot on with this book title .....
