In my area, beauty shops are about the only businesses left in the hood. Not having to spend money on food and rent leaves lots of money left over for hair and nails.
I'm guessing it's the only one left that's not prepared to shoot looters.

The gibsmedats don’t have anything against the store. They’re looting because they want free stuff. “Beauty Town” apparently has the sort of stuff they want, so they gang up and get it free. It’s what they do. It’s all they know how to do ... for several generations.

They are pretty expensive, and widely used. If you can score some, you can sell them for half price and make good money.
It’s akin to trading fur pelts back in the 1840’s.
