Authorities this morning are searching the area of Snow Hill Road in Price Township, near the border with Barrett Township outside Cresco, as part of their ongoing search for alleged cop killer Eric Frein.
Police vehicles are parked along or driving along Route 447 and Snow Hill and Beartown roads, which both run off Route 447.
There has been police presence in the area for days, and many residents have been unable to leave or return to their homes.
Frein, 31, of Canadensis, is accused of shooting two troopers, killing one and critically wounding the other, on Sept. 12 at the state police station in Blooming Grove.
I know they are searching for a murder, but it appears they have placed the residents of this area under martial law without martial law being declared!
I guess going out on the back yard and shooting a .22 at cans would be a death wish.
Its amazing the stops that are pulled out when a COP gets offed. Youd almost think they believe their lives are far more important than The Little Peoples. Guess it plays in w/ the ‘gotta be safe so I can go home at night’ mentality.
I would simply ignore their unconstitutional ‘orders’ and go about my business. Im truly sorry the COP got killed but its part of the gig.
Guess it plays in w/ the gotta be safe so I can go home at night mentality.
They know if they start confiscating or guns, it won’t be safe for them.
I’d say that would be a good guess right now.
Would you feel better if they just put one officer on the case?
If left alone, the guy will shoot cops and others at will. Do you not see this?
Cops do have a sort of fraternity, like military types. So I wouldn’t begrudge them that. Allocation of resources though can be challenging.
In the old days, the sheriff would assemble and unleash a posse on this POS.
Stay on target, I want to know how they can keep people from going to or leaving their homes for so long.
Cower in place has replaced the 1950-60’s duck and cover
So I suppose if you can’t get to work the police will cover your paycheck and give you a note for your boss not to fire you. And the police will give absence permission slips for schoolkids too. When the PD starts delivering prescriptions and groceries to their caged charges I suppose that’ll make it OK.
Tell me that there is no chopper available with heat sensing cameras. I would not believe that for one second.
Is the same guy they’ve been on the verge of catching for days on end now?
Eric Rudolph was in the woods on the run for, what, five or six years?
They expect the rest of us to “shelter in place” for that long?
Tell me that there is no chopper available with heat sensing cameras. I would not believe that for one second.
They’re already using them.
In an earlier story someone did what you recommend; the police set up a road block to prevent access to the guy's house so he took a back trail to get in. The police ran up to him, cuffed him, slammed his face into the ground and placed him under arrest/observation. There are numerous pictures of them drawing down on locals, which I would consider to put my life in danger knowing how inept PSP are at handling firearms (based on range time with them). If I lived there, I would see the police as far more of a threat than the alleged murderer, he only wants to kill cops.
This was meant to keep ordinary people from getting into the line of fire. If he’s really there, they’ll probably find him soon, if not they’ll move on.
I think it’s very important to get this guy. Supposing jihadis start killing cops in NYC as they arrive at their shifts? Or eco-wackos start killing rangers?
I hope they find him, and the local residents should just take a deep breath and order another coffee.
One purpose is to demonstrate to other would-be cop killers they will face a certain and violent death. It's more messaging to others than revenge.
No offense intended, but so far I've seen absolutely no evidence that this guy is a threat to civilians. And forgive me if I'm not entirely convinced he shot the police in question.
I say this because I have yet to hear HOW the police know it's this guy. Is he really the shooter or is he just a handy "usual suspect"?
For all the boot lickers...hope you enjoy your chains, you deserve them richly. What cowardice!
Ya, the COPs are far more of a threat than this guy. The COPs are running around like kids pretending to about about some super important work. In fact theyre just showing how inept and unprofessional they truly are. Theyre out of control w/ guns and an attitude. Theyve assumed far more authority than they really have or should have. The only way theyre getting a pass is b/c no one has the guts to have cooler heads prevail. Ya, its too bad a COP got killed. As I said its part of the gig so get over it and think before you act.
As for allocating resources...how much do they allocate when its Joe Blow who got offed. See the difference?
