While the late Ike and his followers fret about a ‘military-industrial complex’, America is being bankrupted by the Welfare-Activist-IllegalAlien Complex.
We go deeper in debt every year for gibsmedat than we do for military. For our gibsmedat expenditures, we get an expanding, resentful, entitled, and violent parasite class. For our military expenditures, we get at least a fighting chance of keeping foreign enemies off our shores.
No argument.
I believe that Ike’s view was correct for it’s time when the welfare state was a very small percent of the U.S. economy and the budget was primarily focused on improving the U.S. and staying out of peoples lives.
Now, however any cuts in the military are just used to add to and increase the size of the give-away government programs in order to buy votes.
