The overnight slaying of a Domino's Pizza delivery driver in an apparent Mid-City carjacking left the victim's co-workers devastated and his employer furious about the level of violence on New Orleans' streets.
"It just doesn't make any sense to me," said Glenn Mueller, CEO of local Domino's franchisee RPM Pizza LLC. "We, as the citizens of New Orleans, need to take back our city. This could have happened to anybody. We really need to make our community safer."
New Orleans police said the 35-year-old employee had just delivered a pizza to a regular customer at an apartment building in the 2800 block of St. Louis Street when he was shot minutes after midnight early Monday morning. The man's black 2004 Toyota Corolla, bearing Louisiana license plate VUH283, was stolen and the man died in the street from multiple gunshot wounds.

On top of the $2,500 reward being offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect or suspects, Mueller said his company and the parent Domino's Pizza corporation were offering an additional $7,500 reward.

Mueller said the shooting would be investigated by his own company's security chief as well as by a Domino's corporate security team flying in Monday. He said an initial review indicated the driver had followed company security protocols by carrying less than $20 between deliveries. He said the driver's personal vehicle was not bearing a Domino's Pizza car-topper sign when it was stolen.
"We'll go through and see what can possibly be done in our safety procedures, that's something that Domino's Pizza really prides itself on," Mueller said. "But in this particular case, it seems the safety policies were followed. It was a regular customer, and it just seemed to be a random carjacking."

4 strikes actually...you forgot “repetition” as his delivery was to a regular customer. A premeditated pizza delivery vehicle heist was planned and executed. Guess the perp(s) were pissed when they realized there were no more pizzas in the car, and in their Mormon rage, took out another heretic. (sarc)

It does not say so it’s a 50/50 chance either way. I personally think the victim it black.
When I was doing inner city deliveries, if I didn’t like the ‘lay of the land’ I would call my Dispatcher and tell them to have the customer meet me at the front door.
Surprising (NOT) how many of them would say they didn’t leave their place at night.
What a way to live.
I did the majority of their long distance runs with little or no warning so they didn’t get all that mad when I would return the package.
Of course I would only ‘charge’ them one way - normally when a delivery couldn’t be made and you had to bring it back, they would get charged double.
They kept ‘warning’ me about carrying and I just ignored them but I just wasn’t going to take any ‘chances’.
Just about the only advantage to being an IC (Independent Contractor) was could pretty much pick and choose what I wanted.

He has some stories to tell. One of them was about once when he and another guy were working in an area that was not good or bad. The other guy was a big black guy who was from the swamp parishes and he did not like New Orleans. This other guy always kept a rifle in his truck, even though it was against the rules. One time my neighbor and he were working on the same corner but on each side. A car backfired and this big black guy came running around with his rifle in his hands yelling "Tom are you alright, are you O.K." My neighbor looked up and he said he just had to laugh at the sight of his co-worker, as big as he was , standing there with a rifle and his eyes scanning all around, ready for battle.
I’m sure they wouldn’t like my car stereo blasting that old GnR hit “WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE”.

SUFFOLK — A pizza delivery man says he's been fired for carrying a weapon to fight off a robber.
This guy was only carrying a knife. The same policy applies to firearms. But hey,
if another driver gets killed they'll put up a whopping $7500 bucks to avenge
their delivery drivers defenseless death.
Most of the swamp and country blacks are good hard working people who look out for each other, no matter what your skin color is. If you took out NOLA and Baton Rouge La. would have a very low crime rate.
Very funny; the area was as frightening to the black co-worker as to him (and he was ready!).
Time to ban all pizza deliveries.

You were right, I just posted an update with a picture of the victim. I have no doubt in my mind as to the ethnicity of the two killers.
