Michelle Obama has been on a quest to change the way Americans eat, like it or not. Her nutritional guidelines for schools has resulted in kids throwing away massive amounts of food, a reduction in school lunch program participation, students, especially athletes, complaining that the food isnt enough to sustain them during the day, and Special Education programs losing their main fundraising program.
....
Now, Michelle Obama wants to take her nutritional demands from the school system nationwide with major changes being suggested by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to nudge Americans to purchase healthier foods. While the expert panel had a supposed target of the 47 million Americans, and growing, who are on food stamps, the suggestions will impact everyone who shops at a grocery store. The Washington Free Beacon reported on this attempt by the USDA, using Michelle Obamas guidelines, to nudge consumers on nutritional choices.
....
This plan to nudge Americans to make healthier food choices includes high-tech, $30,000 grocery carts, MyCart grocery cart, which would help consumers know they have the appropriate amount of government approved food choices. The color-coded cart would have sections with sensors installed to praise the customer when they have a cart filled to its healthy threshold. The report cited the cost for changing to the high-tech grocery cart for Safeway, Inc., which has 1,335 stores nationwide, would be $40.05 million.

I’ll eat Fritos covered w melted cheese and chopped chilies whenever I want to.
This ghetto person wasn’t elected to anything so we should ignore her. If she wanted to do something constructive, why isn’t she promoting education for black kids, instead of letting them think they are ‘acting white’ if they learn to read and sign their name.

You’re right, sucking up 30-40% of the corn crop for ethanol production does raise grain, meat and dairy prices for everyone.

They used to sell a product called Melorine. God, it was awful. My wife said her dad would eat a half gallon at a time. He bought it because it was cheap.

are they going to fingerprint us like Venezuela? Oh no that takes too much time to process. A simple "O" Logo mark on the wrist or forehead will allow you to purchase your allotted approved food items.

Some of these are decent ideas...if people are getting government assistance to buy food, the government can tell them what to buy...
As long as it remains SNAP and EBT participates and doesn't involve TAXPAYERS...
Most of these SNAP and EBT card holders make bad food choices because they aren't paying for it...
The last point is too ridiculous to even comment...spending $30,000 for a grocery card to scold you for making poor decisions...they will become $30,000 umbrella holders...
A points-based system reward for healthy food choices for food stamps recipients redeemable for movie tickets
Buy one, get one free deals for SNAP participants
Discount coupons for SNAP participants
A USDA loyalty card
Grocery store staff used to push the USDA nudging agenda by acting as ambassadors, steering people to the approved food choices
High-tech, $30,000 grocery carts, MyCart grocery cart, which would help consumers know they have the appropriate amount of government approved food choices. The color-coded cart would have sections with sensors installed to praise the customer when they have a cart filled to its healthy threshold. includes high-tech, $30,000 grocery carts that will drive up the price of food beyond what folks can afford and/or drive grocery chains out of business because of unafordablility of buying them.No it won't...Grocery chains aren't going to buy these carts...you and I will be though a taxpayer funded government subsidy or rebate...

I'm going to get accused to being the "Prophet of Doom" again after what I'm about to write. But I think that we as a nation are effectively FINISHED. I don't see "recovery"... at least not what you and I and our types would deem "recovery". I see one last "hurrah" for the Republic, and that's only because the pendulum will swing on account of what this current batch of tyrants has done. We'll see one last stretch of what we know to be a Republic, and true representative government... rule of law, and adherence to a "standard", which is in our case The United States Constitution. If a person simply observes and mentally calculates a reasonable trajectory for this nation and most of the rest of the civilized world, there is a massive shit storm just over the horizon and heading in our direction quickly. The left is going to have their heads handed to them in the process, but them being unhappy will only be part of it.
The Obamas are merely a reflection of the people who put them there. It's the people who put them there who we contend with. stupidity has its limits though and I'd say by a best estimation that this nation has a few more years whereby the good people continue to "tolerate" them. Because what comes after that will please nobody.
