The Iowa Senate race remains dead even.

Iowa continues to be a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports 2014 Senate Balance of Power rankings as it has been since June. At stake is the seat held by retiring Democratic Senator Tom Harkin, and Republicans view a win in the state as critical to their hopes of taking control of the Senate.

OK, I loathe the GOPe. I want to see us get control of the Senate but at the same time, I want us to do it with Thad Cochran and Mitch McConnell losing. Having said that: There was an article on here the other day that said, the GOPe is financing Joni's campaign, BUT..... the SCF (Senate Conservative Fund) headed up by Ken Cuccinnelli is NOT giving any money to Joni for the General Election. Why? I have no clue. Here's a line from that article and a link to that article below it:

"The National Republican Senatorial Committee has spent or reserved $3.4 million in Iowa airtime. But there is particular frustration across the GOP establishment with the outside group Senate Conservatives Fund, which backed Ernst in the GOP primary but has yet to reserve any airtime to help out in the fall."

Doesn’t Rush say, “It’s always the candidate”? After running a high-energy, clever primary campaign, Ernst’s general election campaign has been very low-key, allowing attack ads connecting her to the Koch brothers to go unanswered. Braley has only been attacked on one or two of the points on which he’s vulnerable.

Fortunately for the Iowa GOP, candidates like Grassley, Branstad, Tom Latham, and even Steve King get reelected regularly with blah campaigns. The flip side is that the GOP can’t take out a Braley or Harkin with those kind of campaigns.

I really don’t understand what’s wrong with states like Iowa and NC. Both of those senate races should be easy GOP wins.

Here in North Carolina Kay Hagan should be 10 points behind she is such a weak Senator and a lousy campaigner. In fact, she is neck and neck with Patty Murray for being the dumbest Senator in the Senate - and she's a total 0bama clone to boot.

Unfortunately, Tillis is running the world's worst campaign which is apparently being run by Karl Rove's GOPe buddies without any discernible Conservative support. No bold colors or contrasts are being painted that I can see. I live here and you would think Hagan is the only one running. Tillis is just an awful, awful candidate running a listless campaign against a more energetic Commie. The GOP sure picked the wrong horse for this race.

Tillis still might get lucky and pull it off because Hagan herself is such a weak dick and a joke. But if he does, it will be a squeaker. A Jesse Helms he is not. A wishy-washy establishment Republican... he is. He adds no excitement or anything else to the race. Pfft!

You’re right. Palin endorsed her and I imagine she will show up in Iowa at some point to lend a hand. It takes grassroots efforts to win elections. Ernst can do it, I think. However, for some reason, a tea party supported candidate seems to repel the Republican blue bloods as they withhold their support. Almost like they have a desire to not win if it isn’t on their terms.

It’s polls like this that really make me want to open a new “Donovan’s Reef” on some South Seas island.

Ernst’s main support is coming from Romney backers and from backers of long-term Iowa Governor Terry Branstad.

I belive it is the bluebloods who have convinced her to play defense and look like a moderate, and they are financing her.
