There were angry scenes in Glasgow on Friday night as a group of young pro-union supporters clashed with pro-independence supporters who had been gathering in George Square throughout the day.
Police acted to separate a small group of pro-independence supporters from a group of skinheads believed to have marched from the loyalist pub the Louden Tavern in nearby Duke Street.
Individuals argued over the referendum result and a chorus of Rule Britannia was countered by Flower of Scotland.
As the evening wore on, and the yes supporters dispersed, more loyalists converged on the square, many of them draped in union flags.

Cameron will do what’s necessary & in his own best interests. Scots, especially pro independence ones, should be careful the situation doesn’t eventually turn into another reminiscent of Northern Ireland.

Nice job Alex Salmond. You have forced many Scots to choose between their British and their Scottish identities, when before there was no contradiction between the two. I’ve already heard of many unionists say they will never sing that song ever again because of the way the yessers have hijacked and tainted it.
Well, I stand corrected. I was familiar with all Edinburgh locations in the opening scene.
