It ought to be easy for ground troops to root out ISIS because I can’t imagine too many civilians who are willing to hide ISIS fighters.

Sunnis among Sunnis, none of whom like Americans much, and some of whom have automatic weapons with which to threaten the rest. I can imagine it very easily. Happened all over Viet Nam for years.
