The left, including the Republican left, believes that if they say nice things about Islam, and pretend that Islam is like Christianity, Muslims will love and respect us. Yes, it is stupid, but the left is convinced tolerance and delusion are the way to victory and votes. They count on the fact that they are selling it to Americans who hate America as much as Muslims do, like the American media.

In the end, it looks like his own thugs turned on him. His rich patron Abu Bakr had married his daughter Aisha to Muhammed around age six. When she was in her teens, Muhammed kicked her out, alleging adultery on her part (he was free to have up to 14 wives and screw an unlimited number of slaves - of which he got first pick after each conquest).
Within a few months of this insult. Muhammed was dead, and Abu Bakr became Caliph, sidelining Muhammed’s desired successor Ali (his Nephew, Cousin, and Son-in-Law). Ali and Muhammed’s last living daughter also came to untimely ends shortly thereafter.
Umar (who later became the third Caliph, after Abu Bakr) took a big hand in this, by preventing Muhammed from giving any last instructions while he was dying (apparently poisened), countermanding his call for writing materials, and a few months later killing Muhammed’s last living child Fatima, by kicking in a door which hit her, and broke her ribs, causing her to miscarry and die.
It’s a dog eat dog gang of thugs, from its inception.

Women and girls are property according to Islam. They belong to the head men in their lives and to the kingdom of Islam.

I don’t really like being in the position of defending Kerry, but ...
I think a lot of people realize that true historic Islam was founded and often followed as a brutal system for enforcing the will of the strong against the week. We have at least two choices:
1) Confront Islam as our fathers confronted the Nazis. Point our the historic and current evils and attempt to destroy Islam as a system of government.
2) Oppose any piece of Islam that carries out violence against us or our allies while attempting a support individuals and groups in Islamic countries that are non violent (and might secretly not truly believe in their religion anyway). This includes giving those groups cover against their domestic forces that are presently moderately opposed to us but are in danger of being pushed into the more hard line camp.
I don’t believe the West is currently politically united enough to follow plan 1. Maybe a lot of people who express opinions on this web site are, but the West as a whole mostly is not.
The only thing that I think could unit the West against Islam is fear. I truly hope plan 2 is effective enough to prevent incidents that could lead to plan 1.
