Mysterious interceptor cellphone towers that can listen in someones phone call despite not being part of any phone networks have turned up near the White House and Senate.
A company that specializes in selling secure mobile phones discovered the existence of several of the towers in and around the nations capitol.
Its highly unlikely that federal law enforcement would be using mobile interceptors near the Senate, ESD America CEO Les Goldsmith told the technology website Venture Beat on Thursday.

I thought the same until recently - a fellow freeper had referenced “stingray” - I asked - apparently its a mobile suitcase device
Will anyone break the news to Zero that Vlad had his phone sex with Reggie taped?
The CIA was caught spying on the Senate this year. Maybe the CIA's operation is ongoing?
Chloe O’Brian ping!
Someone knows whose they are; unless they were built by Colossus or Skynet.
it sounds crazy to say so but I believe it’s possible there has been a de facto coup in this country and it is now enirely run by the executive branch.
what we see is merely an edifice — a total deception.
6 years ago I would have said that sounds absolutely nuts but I am beginning to think that is possible, maybe even likely.
US of NSA...???
Probably owned by the state dept.. they seem to be out of control....
These are most likely NOT physical towers, but simply Laptops with a Cell phone USB Dongle and small antenna...
Special software is ran on the laptop to intercept and force the cell phone it is reading from secure 4G to less secure 3G or 2G in order to capture data from it and then it relays the signal back to the company owned tower...
(it is a man in the middle sort of attack)
It could even be concealed in a typical laptop bag and setup to run from the local starbucks with NO ONE KNOWING IT.....
” In any case, Chinese, Russians, or US. It should be pretty easy to pull the building permits. Of course, the NSA must know about them even if they didnt build them in the first place. “
You don’t need a physical “Tower” to intercept, just a laptop and some special hardware/software....
Think of these “towers” as virtual towers....
Do they transmit? Or only receive?
If they transmit, which is governed by the FCC, it is 100% a sure thing they are government-owned, as they would be shut down by lawsuit promptly.
If they receive only, probably still government, but could be a private operation on the behest of anyone. Just get a lease and permit, and voila!
Its highly unlikely that federal law enforcement would be using mobile interceptors near the Senate,
Wanna bet?
bttt
Russia? China? North Korea? NSA? Clinton information gatherers?
I used to work for a firm that did monitoring and disaster recover management for cell towers. Someone will show up quickly.
No one would be able to build and equip any cell towers without many knowing who owns and operates the tower.
This some kind of BS.
Ding, Ding, Ding. We have a winner!!!!!
